Hopefully theyre catching the EU cars up to the US ones - which are light years ahead of ours
The biggest issue is that the US and EU are more closely aligned as to what their cars are allowed to do/have installed than we are in the UK. We are more restricted as to what the car can/can't do for insurance restrictions and compliance regulations. This means that our software updates have to be rewritten/tweeked for our cars. It then has to be tested before it is rolled out. As has been mentioned on here before not all cars get the same updates. RWD SR cars get different updates than AWD SR and so on and so on. And because of Ford's systems restrictions they can't do a blanket OTA. They have to be staggered. That is my understanding anyway. Hopefully I will speak to someone face to face on Friday and clarify this.

Perhaps - but all those obstacles have been removed for my23 cars to have BlueCruise - so I don't understand why older cars with the same hardware can't have this too ?

I suspect older cars have some differences in the hardware. Also remember there were some challenges around chip supply so perhaps that also caused differences?

I'm not convinced - it was rolled out retrospectively to older cars in the US

Has everyone now got the final OTA for Alexa / 2 simultaneous phone connections? I got the the first 2 end of June but nothing since (unless it has failed). I'm still on PU2001 PR FX

I was updated to 2.3 by the dealer in September last year and have had nothing OTA since then. No priority update in June, nothing at all.

But yes it's my wife's car and is very low mileage and short journeys only so that may be why?
I’m in exactly the same boat. I was updated to 2.3.0 in February this year.

The most recent update I got was: Priority Update 22-PU0727-VI-FXA on 16/6/23

Nothing yet about the recent batches but I don’t know if I need to go through any previous updates to catch up first!

I posted about it on the FordPass community and the reply didn’t seem to indicate that there should be any issues but going by my past experiences I’m not holding my breath!?

Are you a low mileage driver or just do short journeys?

Like you I’m still awaiting the third OTA to get Alexa but weirdly I now have 2 phone connections.
Frustrating isn’t it? My Fiat 500e has had both from the start.

Not once in 12 or so charges in France did plug and charge work on my MachE, although I did get 3 charges that I did not get charged for. I was told by another user at an Ionity station just to the north of Paris that plug and charge was not available when I couldn’t get the charger to work.

Plug and charged worked fine in UK at Folkestone before leaving and at the Ionity stations near Barcelona and Alicante.
Well I've never had plug and charge work in the UK  Very strange, but i too did have one that I never got charged for!

If Plug & Charge hasn’t worked for you it might be worth checking it’s enabled on your FordPass app - it has a nasty habit of turning itself off every now and then.

Here’s where it’s hidden away….

Thanks Wonky, it's definitely set and worked in France but hasn't yet worked in the UK. @Schwarzy was saying the opposite experience - works here but didn't work in France! I might get to try it at Milton Keynes later today.

I’m only speculating on this based on my year long journey of trying to get successful OTA updates but it seems you’re more likely to get the updates if the car is driven more often. The duration of the ‘drive cycle’ also plays a part. This is the time between car being switched on and then switched off.
At the moment the updates have to be completed within one drive cycle which is OK for smaller updates.
In the latest bunch of updates it’s meant to allow the updates to be downloaded over multiple drives which should help with larger updates …if we can get that update!?

Here’s a copy of a reply I got about the issue on the FordPass community:

Downloading a Ford Power-Up Software Update depends on a number of variables e.g. the file size being deployed, availability and quality of cellular and/or Wi-Fi connectivity, available bandwidth, how much the vehicle is being driven etc. Ford Power-Up 3.5.2.1 is a relatively small file and should download quite quickly and easily within your normal driving cycles. I would also anticipate that Ford Power-Up 23-PU2001-PR-FX will also be downloaded ok. The need for multi-cycle updates is more critical for the larger updates, particularly Ford Power-Up 23-PU0205-PR-FX in this sequence. We will be monitoring these.

So, if I payed the £149 to get the cheaper Ionity charging, that means I would use Plug and Charge or the RFID card that came with the car, right?

...and does that also mean that I could also use the RFID at Ionity when driving another EV and get the discounted charging for that non-ford car?

You can use P&C or the card (on the odd occasion where P&C doesn’t work you use the card as a backup option)

Technically I guess you can use the card on whatever vehicle you want - can’t remember if there was anything in the T&C’s that said you can’t

Thanks this does make sense. I wonder if turning the car on and leaving it on in the garage connected to WiFi might work...
