Join the club. I imagine that most of us know more than our dealer. If he has given you a build date he should have the last 11 digits (if not all) of your VIN. It should be on vista. You can then work out the remaining 6.nI had to tell mine that if you chose a colour other than black it didn't affect the PICG as it pushed the price over £50,000.
I've been given an 11-digit VIN number but not the usual 17 digit one.
When I input that 11-digit number into the Tracking App, it's not recognised.

If you stick “WF0TR1” in front of what you have that should work. :)

Got through to my assigned dealer and whoa ... did not expect the lack of awareness of the car existing, my order or the process.

What's that car? Is that a new or used car? (asked three times) what did you put down as a deposit?

The new car team hadn't heard of the Mustang Mach E and I had to give them my order details and they will get 'back to me' - surely they had a brief meeting or training session about their new fully electric car!

I had visited this dealer once before and my wife and I were appalled and left to buy elsewhere, I had put it down to a maybe one off but now this interaction has ruined me and has me in fear for where/if they even know my deposit is?
That’s terrible service!
In comparison my dealer seems to be on the ball. In fact when I spoke to the guy and explained my issues he knew who I was straight away before I said my name! That was despite the fact I hadn’t spoken to him before.
That at least puts my mind at ease that they seem to be organised to some degree!?

With the finance I suggest making sure your finances are relatively sensible. Lots of credit card debt could be something to look at and clear down or get down to a sensible level.

I'm doing that. Was £15k plus and now half that.

I also suggest checking your credit file for free and your 'affordability' rating by signing up to the moneysaving expert credit club.
Yes. I’m already on that ?. Fingers crossed I get a favourable decision back from Ford soon.

If the WF0TR1 that @Wonky_Donkey suggested doesn't work then substitute the 1 for a 3 and try that

I have had a similar experience with Think Ford in Guildford, they don’t have a clue. Ford customer relationship centre, assured me that the order had been confirmed and that the dealerships lack of knowledge would not delay the order, although I am unlikely to be kept updated. They also confirmed that the dealership had received my deposit even though the dealership couldn’t find it. Bad reviews for them once car is collected and all one stars in the Ford dealership survey unless things improve.

Your one worked - with the 3.

Thanks so much.

ETA end date = 1990-01-01
That's good then. I was just interested to see what our cars were based on. It would seem from mine and @Wonky_Donkey VIN's that our RWD cars are based on the US Select and our AWD cars are based on their Premium. Just for anyone else's info who has the last 11 digits of their VIN the first 6 are likely to be the following:
RWD - WF0TRI
AWD - WF0TR3

I cant believe that after all the press, YouTube videos and what Ford have pushed out that there are still dealers who don't know about the car. Either that or they're just not interested in it. Not enough margin
I think that they will wait to actually see a car at the dealers then have some notion of the information sinking in.

I elected to pay with an alternative method. I emailed the dealer and have had nothing. Probably they are locked down. I might give them a call.

Just a wee update on the odyssey that is my order.
Having went through the finance application with the salesman this morning he emailed me back about 5 minutes ago.

He said he has been on and off the phone all day between Ford Credit and Ford Customer Relations. Apparently the Customer Relations team won’t speak to him as it would breach GDPR!

I need to contact the team and go through the process once again. (3rd time lucky!??)

Seems strange that Ford won’t talk to one of their own dealers....even to sell a £50k car.

Apparently Ford staff are having a briefing either today or Monday about the Mach-e. Hopefully after that dealers will be more helpful/knowledgeable. Good to know we could potentially change dealers.
