Just phoned Dagenham, the person was very helpful. Said they would be firming up finance early next month and when he gets the VIN he would be emailing them to me.

That's good then. I was just interested to see what our cars were based on. It would seem from mine and @Wonky_Donkey VIN's that our RWD cars are based on the US Select and our AWD cars are based on their Premium. Just for anyone else's info who has the last 11 digits of their VIN the first 6 are likely to be the following:
RWD - WF0TRI
AWD - WF0TR3

So... My dealer has given me a 5 digit VIN??
He's also given me 7 digit dealer code and 5 digit dealer order number.

Been told build date of 14th Feb and ETA at dealers June which is accurate to the original 20-23 week estimate.. we are not in a great rush but were hoping for April/May.

Kind of wishing I'd not listened to Ryan and gone ahead and placed a new order when the estimate was lower!

Just checked Ford website and car has changed to in production
That's good going if you only ordered at the beginning of December. You will upset a few people on here with that news.

Was that the vin tracker you checked or your ford account?

Mine does seem to have moved on a step despite nothing changing in the "Next Step". It still says "Contact Dealer" because of the snafu with the online finance system, but I did that before Christmas. This now brings the Ford Account website in line with the order tracker at the top of this page where you input your VIN.

Or they have been built/planned to build and then cancelled?

Just checked and NOT showing 'in production'!

BAD NEWS GUYS/GALS IN UK

I have just had some really worrying news. I have heard that the nationwide confirmation uptake hasn't been as good as Ford had hoped. This I suspect is mainly due to the fact that many people who have preordered are worried about committing to a firm order without having seen/sat in/driven the car. I can empathize with that. I would also imagine that there has been a lot of people cancelling because they don't want to wait any longer and have gone for something else or weren't really interested in the car anyway.

However a consequence of this, I was told, is that NO UK destined cars will be gate released from the factory until after the deadline date for confirming orders has been reached. I believe this was originally yesterday but it seems that it has been extended by a week or so. This means, I suspect, that those of us whose cars have already been made will stay in Mexico for a while longer. I was rather hoping that some would have left on Tuesday (which didn't happen) or today(which probably won't happen either). It could also be why my ETA End date on the tracker changed on Tuesday from 7/2/2021 back to the default 1/1/1990 like most peoples. I don't know about the rest of you but I find this disgusting. Those of us who have confirmed and are waiting patiently for our vehicles to be shipped are now having to wait for another undetermined time before they arrive. I don't understand this mentality at all. Maybe someone can explain it to me. The ships are doing the voyage anyway. Presumably Ford pays per car so why not get them out as soon as possible. My money is burning a hole in my pocket. Surely Ford would rather it be in their bank account than in mine. When my customers order from me they want what they have ordered as soon as possible. Image the grief I would get if I said thanks for your order but you will have to wait a few months until I get some more orders.

If Ford are thinking that this is a good way to treat their customers who jumped in feet first from the very (almost in my case) beginning then they are seriously disillusioned. I need to have a long hard discussion with the other half this weekend. A couple of bottles of red wine might be called for.

whoa - that's poor

they didnt provide any justification other than 'we want to ship more at the same time'?

Grahame, i think you're the most reasonable, optomistic and patient person on the UK part of this site. So to annoy you the customer like this takes some serious lack of respect etc from Ford.

Are they suggesting you wait until all the cars preordered prior to next weeks deadline are built before shipping?

Have the computer off when you are on the wine! Many a hasty decision has been made when under the influence!

All I know is what I wrote. Don't know what the reasoning was. All I know is that I'm not impressed.
