UK Mach-E AWD ER Tyre Recommendations

Hi All, I've got a slow puncture - which has accelerated the need to replace the tyres on my Mach-E. Struggling to find any of the "EV" tyres (Bridgestone Turanza, Michelin E-Primacy) - and i'm worried about road noise (although also not sure if i should be). What have other UK Mach-E owners shod their ponies in? (225/55/19 - 103V, i believe).

General consensus is the Michelin Cross Climate 2 XL (Extra load) are the ones to plump for.

They come in both 18 and 19 inch variants making them suitable for both RWD and AWD models.

I’ve got a couple on the back of my RWD and have been pleased with them.

Probably teaching you to suck eggs but make sure the tyres you purchase are load rated at 103, not 99. EVs are heavy and you won’t be insured with less than 103, not to mention they would be dangerous. Only mentioning because two tyre companies recently recommended 99 load rated tyres for my Mach-E. I’m currently running with : Pirelli Scorpion Winter 2 225/55 R19 103V XL. Changing back to stock Bridgestone Turanza T005s in March. The Pirelli Winter tires have been amazing in the snow this year. Never get tired of driving past 4x4s spinning their wheels in summer tires and the incredulous looks from their owners ?

I’d second the Cross Climate 2 Miches.

Forgot to measure their tread when new at 49500 miles but mother just put 2 on her Volvo with 6mm on each when new which surprised me because new normal car tyres usually come with 7mm.

Anyhow, 25332 miles later and Stangy’s rears measure 4.5mm and fronts 4mm of tread remaining.

They are, therefore, almost 40% worn so are wearing well with a projected life of 63,000 miles if I continue to rotate and drive the same.

I found them no noisier than the original Contis which were terrible for grip and were only summer tyres.

The CC2s grip very well and all weather.

While I don't live in the UK, I have friends that do and also in Italy, Germany. In talking with them about tyres, they've informed me that there are a limited selection of XL (103) rated tires in the OEM 225/55/19 tyre size you are looking for. However, going up one size to 235/55/19, there are more XL load choices so you might want to look into that. There's no issue at all running one size larger tyre on the Mach-E and the 235/55 size will fit on your 7" wide wheel no problem.

Down down, deeper and down etc. The Status Quo seems to be the Cross Climate 2's XL's all round which I now have after my tyre puncture experience last year.

Considering that 18 months has past, is the Michelin CC2 XL still considered to be the tyre of choice?

I've been happy with mine although I had another 2 front tyres fitted after I found a screw in both of them. Some building work was going on further down my road. Tyre pressure warnings worked well though.

After reading here, I also now have the Cross Climate 2 XL's. I thought they were quieter than the stock ones.

Besides the Michelin CCL 2 XLs that are often recommended on this forum, the Pirelli P Zero AS Plus 3 noise reduction tires for EVs are also excellent. I recently replaced the original Pirelli P Zero Summer tires that came with the 2022 GTPE with the Pirelli AS Plus 3 tires and the difference was remarkable. The new tires make the car run much smoother and quieter, so much better that it is almost like a different car.
