Hey Team!

Weird one here and it has only happened twice.
While parking in my garage, foot on the accelerator, the car stops itself 3 feet from the end of the garage.
It will not move until I apply additional throttle. Once the car start to inch forward the breaks brakes it was applying to let off and the car launces forward rapidly. The first time the car hit the wall. (have not got an estimate on the damage yet). ?

The setting are
-one peddle drive
-the break hold thing

I am sure it is part of the cars programing and the procedure of me parking is being misinterpreted.
For now I have one peddle drive and break hold disabled.

Not really complaining just sharing incase it can help someone in the future.

Cheers!

Brake-hold requires some throttle to disengage the brakes. If you're not ready for that throttle to be translated into motion when the brake releases, it will lunge forward. Brake-hold really isn't necessary if you're using 1PD, so I would turn it off.

Were you in whisper by any chance? I have experienced sudden breaking in the garage in whisper, and it does take a lot of pedal to override it. When my car does this, I switch to engage, and it goes in nicely.

(I only use whisper when the roads are snowy/icy FWIW)

I don't use 1PD. I find that when we pull in, it's best to keep the car slowly moving forward, i.e. not letting auto-hold engage, until we hit the 2x4 that indicates it's the stopping point.

It's pretty clear that 1PD and auto-hold cause accidents for those unfamiliar with them. Just watched a video here the other day of the vehicle being driven too far and coming off the front of the lift. Also one where they were turning tight and it "surged" and hit something.

Turn off 1PD when pulling into the garage. Put in a physical stop that prevents you from hitting anything, with all your vehicles. I have a 2x4 on it's side, with two pieces going to the wall, and corner braces. Gentle reminder that you're in far enough.

I also never buy vehicles equipped with breaks. Just begging for an accident.

This has happened to me but I back into the garage and its happened pulling out. I always us 1pd.

The brakes like to stick when wet. It takes a lot more power to get them to un stick which means you rocket ship out of there when they release.

Yes I was in whisper! I never thought of that. I will switch and report back.

Thankyou!

^^^ this.

I use one (default) memory setting for wisper 2PD and no auto-hold to get in and out of the garage or any tied space, and another - unbridled 1PD - for normal driving.

I have been in unbridled OPD since day one. My car plays very nice with small movements. But I have a fairly large garage. Is it possible that for those with the lurching, the car is engaging some of the anti collision automatic braking. I’m thinking those trying to move just an couple inches may be trying to fit the car into a tight garage.
If the car is automatic braking, this does require a fair amount of go pedal to overcome and tell the car “yes I still want you to move.” Then that forceful acceleration is realized.
Just a thought.

My experience is similar, operating in Unbridled / 1PD.
As I pull into the garage, I quickly shift to R, then back to D. This activates the rear camera and I can creep into the garage, gauging my location by watching the location of the door sill in the rear camera. There is no lurching or unintended acc/deceleration. It works quite well for me.
I do get some beeping as I'm close to my lawn mower on the driver's side.

I've only had this sort of thing happen when going down my driveway (somewhat steep) and 1PD decides to disable itself momentarily. It feels like acceleration, but it's really just unexpected coasting vs. regen. I've had to quickly hit the brakes a couple times due to this. The only time I've ever hit anything in the garage is when my brain wasn't fully engaged with the ~2" tolerance I've made for myself.

This just started happening to me. I use 1PD and always would have to apply accelerator to back out. I like the 1PD because if I lift off almost immediately come to a stop. I just had a bunch of software updates done by the dealer and now it feels as I get moving down my driveway that 1PD isn't really active until I come to a complete stop at the bottom of the driveway.

Twice? Think I would practice outside and get used to the car instead of hitting the wall again. That is if I am understanding your post correctly. ?

Excellent point. Hit wall once. Lurched forward twice.
