Once inside one of these steamy chats, start talking dirty or even cam-to-cam if you dare show off a bit yourself. These sessions can turn pretty steamy quick; make sure no one's walking behind you! And trust me when I say there are plenty of girls just dying for you to watch them touch themselves... so why deny yourself this pleasure any minute longer?

I thought this was going to be a tie in to the old Beatles tune. I was quite interested in just how it was going to be tied in to the Mach-e. Alas …

;)

I would be more concerned with UV damage, ice and snow. Buy a weather cover, I just bought two from Lectron "junk" that had magnets in the end, kept tripping the magnetic reed switch in the j1772, had too cut the magnets out and replace them with plastic hose, the draw string doesn't work either, I had to use Bungie cord to keep them in place. The Lectron 40amp EVSE I have is also "junk" , the j1772 is too large, gets stuck when warm and also trips my Lightning into an red error mode when unplugged some of the time. The moral of my story, don't buy Lectron products.

You don't understand how the car (or electricity for that matter) works, do you? This is literally some of the testing that Ford does on their cars. There's a reason they allow you to plug in your car while it's raining or snowing.

There is no way anything the guy in the video did would be able to hurt/kill anyone. That's not how electricity works.

20 years of safety training in a power plant and a degree in electronics. Please don't take this personaly, it was not meant as an attack on you. But with the many different EVSE manufacturers out there, I can say with confidence there will be a failure, all it would take is one stuck relay or shorted SCR. And there is a left hand rule for electricians, "Always put your left hand in your back pocket!" because your heart is on your left side and you don't want it in the path of the current!

It doesn't matter if they have a stuck relay, or a shorted rectifier, because there's no path to complete the circuit that goes through you if you grab the plastic/rubber handle, even with both hands. Outside of Final Destination levels of craziness, the electricity will never just *jump* to you. Being you have "20 years of safety training in a power plant" and "a degree in electronics," you should understand how electricity flows, and you should know that there's no path for electricity to take that goes through rain water or snow melt, out through your body, and into somewhere else. This is a 1,000v 350amp maximum system (for DC fast-chargers; AC EVSEs are far less, and thus impossible to cause any actual harm to the person using it), far from what a power plant normally handles. At these numbers, it's enough that the cars are capable of handling the charge itself. Don't forget: the car *and* the dispenser both have multiple failsafes to cut off power when something shorts, arcs, or grounds itself.

You're trying to scare people about something that will happen one time in the next 100 years if all the stars align and that one person happens to be super unlucky. You could do exactly what the guy in the video did 1 million times, and you wouldn't ever have a problem. Don't scare people into thinking electric cars are dangerous when they aren't (at least, not in this way). Again: that's not how electricity works. The electricity doesn't jump out at you because some relay somewhere was fried; remember: arcing is a function of high voltage, and 1,000 volts (which isn't even considered particularly high voltage outside of a household) would only be able to create an arc of roughly one inch. As long as you are more than one inch away from the connector pins (which you would be as long as you weren't holding the handle by the connector pins themselves), you literally can't be hurt by the most faulty of devices. Even if a relay was fried and you dunked the handle in a bucket of water, it wouldn't run through you, it would just run over to the other connector to complete the circuit. You would literally have to put your body between the connectors to get a shock. Though I will admit: if all of the safety features break, and you are charging your car underwater, and you lick both connectors at the same time, yes, you will get a shock that might even be able to kill you. So... feel free to do literally anything *but* that very specific list of things, and you'll be fine.

Oh, and the level 2 chargers you were worried about? Even LESS of a problem than the DC fast chargers. In the US and Canada (where this video was made), we have a maximum voltage of 240 volts, and a maximum amperage of 80 amps (this applies to the F-150 Lightning extended range battery, and Rivians). That would be capable of creating an arc of just a quarter inch, shorter than the distance between the connector pins, and certainly shorter than the distance from the front of the plastic handle housing and the connector pins. Again: you'd have to be touching both connector pins in order to actually cause a problem. Even submerged in a bucket of water, the electricity wouldn't flow through you, though, so, again, not a safety issue.

None of this stuff is dangerous, even if you have a 20 year old EVSE that has every single safety feature broken/bypassed. Unless you are physically touching the bare wires, or interrupting the path between the connector pins with your skin, you will not, and CANNOT, die from an electric shock by using a charger in wet conditions. Note: this also completely ignores the fact that you can very easily use a level 2 charger handle with a single hand, meaning it doesn't complete a circuit, anyway, as you noted in your, "put your left hand in your back pocket," saying. It all comes down to this: if electricity doesn't use your body to complete its circuit, then you're not in any danger, no matter how much water is involved.

I looked at the picture of your vehicles and it looked like they were parked in front of garage doors. I'm sure I missed something, but struggled to understand why you needed covers for your vehicles, when they could be parked inside. There's nothing better for your car than a garage. It will extend the life of a car and protect it from hail.

911, ATV, lift and various tool boxes make it a tight fit!

I wouldn't be able to charge for, like, 8 months of the year. ;)

Started raining yesterday and I unplugged my MachE just in case, but was it necessary?
I use this one, below the little four suction cups is a rubber seal that sticks to the body so the rain can’t get past that.

rain is no problem...

if you want to keep snow and sleet out of the hinge, just pop your hood, drape a reusable grocery bag over the port, and close your hood to hold it in place.

I was on an EA 350kw charger, battery at about 60% so drawing good power, and I had to unplug in a TORENTIAL thundershower and head to my next destination (I didnt need any more charge). I had to step out in 4 inch deep water (over my ankles) wearing flip flops in a monsoon. I was able to push the button, stop the charge, unplug all without issue. Terrifying but once you have done it you are no longer concerned.
