Yeah, that always really bugged my dad - korea was the first war we didn't win, and he felt everybody looked down on him for that. Obviously it wasn't nearly as bad as what happened to vietnam vets, but he was a teen on VE and VJ day and saw the huge homecoming WW2 vets deservedly got. He always felt like nobody cared, which is definitely better than being despised but doesn't feel good nonetheless.The Korean War vets were kind of ignored because it was a "forgotten" war for much of the populace.
I was really glad that I was able to take him to see the Korean war memorial in washington before he died. My dad almost never let you see him sad/mournful, but that was one time he did.
