One advantage the mach-e has is the very limited numbers being produced as 50000 units is nothing, battery supply will be the limiting factor, so there is a good chance there will be plenty of time for quality control.
The explorer was a poor launch, but the Chicago plant doesn't have the best record when it comes to build quality and in a rushed launched and your just asking for problems. Yes there is always the first model year syndrome to take into account, but whenever I take a focus in for service I like to have a nose around the lot and I still see mustangs with panel gaps and alignment issues that would make a tesla owner feel proud lol, so quality control is still just as bad as it was on the 2015's so being built later is no guarantee
So unless flag waving is a top priority for people the mach-e being built south of the border should not be an issue as looking at previous models manufactured at the plant all the fiestas I have been in have at least been well screwed together.
Another thing that can help besides the simpler drive train in regards to long term ownership and build quality is that there is a very limited number of options so interior wise we do not have a large delta from the base to fully loaded that can often lead to a huge mish mash of interior parts that all lack felt seperators that are then assembled for the desired trim level which can result in poor fit and finish and creaks and rattles further down the line.
