Sure, but those are for ALL cars - guaranteed if that list was limited to sporty cars the distribution would be different. When you're driving a camry or plain-jane SUV you get it in plain colors because there isn't anything to accentuate. When you've got a sexy shape the color should accentuate those curves!
I agree but it would appear Ford Marketing doesn't...it is a CUV afterall LOL.

Perhaps the marketing guy choosing the color didn't realize that:
Ok lets see what colors for this CUV EV? Ah yeah boring ones, yup. Wait there is a "GT"..who are we kidding LOL ok I'll throw red and blue in there.

I think a lot more grabber blues would have sold
And Cyber Orange. If that was available for the FE/Premium, I would have seriously considered it. It looks great online, and contrasts perfectly with the black trim. Looks more gold than orange to me.

I'd need to see it in real life first, since most of the online pics are still renderings that always "cheat" the look to make it look better. And since I got suckered into MachDrop for an FE, that would complicate it regarding the seat stitching and caliper paint. Red calipers look good with the red car, but I think they look odd with the Grabber Blue car. Would probably look odd with Cyber Orange too (or any color other than red). Cyber Orange seat stitching would probably look good though.

Reinforced by the pie chart Tru posted showing 58% of MME orders are red or blue. And only 42% are in the '50 shades of gray'.

Seems to me Ford got the color breakdown about right:

From here.

Personally I rather like the Orangish colors. Really loved the Autum Orange 98 Ranger I had. Looked like this one except it was an XLT so had black plastic trim (bumpers, grille, etc.):

How much of that is because black, white, gray, and shiny gray are pretty much all the dealers stock. Actual colors usually have to be special orders and most people won't wait or don't want to pay extra (no fake deep discounts on special orders).

And depending on the companies and the trim level you select on a car, some colors are not available. We currently lease a Civic, in our trim there was only black, white and grey available if I recall... But I wasn't going to pay extra for a model I didn't want just for the color!

and GT has 8 colors with no up charge.
I don’t think we’ve seen any info indicating that GT colors won’t be priced along the same lines as the non-GTs, but your input is always welcomed. No up charge on colors would be nice — and can help offset a little of the cost for other missing standard equipment (like pano roof).

The black/white sell the most because often that is all that is on the lot, sometimes all that is available. If they don't offer a color, it will not be bought.
Yep. Those are the "safe" colors that people will usually settle for if their 1st or 2nd choice isn't available. "Color" colors tend to be more polarizing. Many people that would love a good blue would never go for red or green or orange. Or would love red but never settle for orange or green. 50 shades of gray are safer as 2nd or 3rd choices.

Plus many cars go to seniors (who tend toward white), and to businesses/fleets (that tend to want serious rather than fun).

Although I do think the numbers have a lot of truth to them, I do also think they are a little bit skewed. For example, most such reports do not distinguish between me buying a car and a fleet operator buying one. Hertz buys A LOT of white, grey and black cars. Unless the data excludes rental companies and other fleet operators, you will get data heavily weighed that way.

I think the limited number of colors is a legitimate criticism of what's happened here. It's not 100% clear to me why that would be the case - paint color selection in a painting area is sort of a zero-one-infinity (*) kind of problem. I'm sure Ford had its reasons, but it would be nice if the selection was wider and deeper.

(*) a computer science concept that says that for any given problem statement, you will never have to solve it ("zero"), have to solve it exactly once ("one"), or many many times ("infinity"), which impacts how you design the solution.
I would prefer to have a selection of fewer colors, applied properly, with high quality, than a large number of low quality colors poorly slapped on. Apparently, Tesla has chosen to offer their customers both few choices AND poor paint application quality ???

I suspect Ford probably conducted some kind of focus groups on colors. Just like they conducted the focus groups on the UI and the interior.

I don't know that is the case. I've been known to toy with family members from half way around the world with two of my connected cars I already own. The VIN is usually the key you need to connect for basic functionality. It's one of the reasons many of us are protecting that information on the forum. You typically need to enable advanced features like remote start/stop from inside the car after you install the app on your phone.
The way they normally work it with secure purchases is the account needs to be tied to an address (and other data). Can not anyone local just read your vin through the windshield? You need a log in password and a verified account to tie the phone to a vin (same account as ford.com). The vin you place into your phone should be tied to that accounts password; input you provide and ford provides access and manages the app (account) for all users. If you let any phone connect with just a VIN all anyone would need to do is walk up with a smart phone and enter the vin to access basic functionality; that makes no sense and buddies would be playing with me. Ford is granting certain access prior to purchase (ownership) but I assume can terminate it also. Pretty sure ford keeps track of what vins have been entered under what user and grants accesses per user. Do not give your log in name and password here and have a good password. If you loose a phone report it. If you mention strange things are happen to Ford most likely they will look a bit more closely at their granted accesses tied to your specific account/vin.

Ford has granted my account access for one vin to set up a remote profile and a Activate vehicle tap. Ford knows where it is; hope they grant location access when they start to send them home.

You have to admit with the mache's lines it looks pretty good in any color; it is a sharp looking vehicle to me. Most have a grey. Less attention the better for me. Grey does not show the salt (and dirt) as much. Less of a ticket magnet. With more HP and 30% more torque than the v8's I have been driving the color may not matter if the kid in you takes over (keep it on whisper!! bang head on dash) ;)?

Cool! It will be interesting to see if there is another update to the car's software soon and you lose contact.
