Having made that drive multiple times, I'd recommend going to Piedras Negras (Eagle Pass) instead of (Nueva) Laredo. That bit between Monterrey and Laredo is narco-heavy, and Neuvo Laredo is narco-controlled these days.

Unfortunately that makes the prospect of chargers even less likely along the way.

Right now along side the highway, you'll see dirty, old five gallon containers of gasoline for sale to desperate motorists. I wonder if these guys are going to be able to keep up with the times!
Wait!? How is Ford going to safely transport our cars up to the US if it’s as dangerous as you describe! I’d think our cars would be ripe to “fall off the back of the truck” in those areas and end up in Russia or North Korea or something?

No it will be safe - Ford has been doing this for years and the bad guys know not to mess with large companies doing business

The way they normally work it with secure purchases is the account needs to be tied to an address (and other data). Can not anyone local just read your vin through the windshield? You need a log in password and a verified account to tie the phone to a vin (same account as ford.com). The vin you place into your phone should be tied to that accounts password; input you provide and ford provides access and manages the app (account) for all users. If you let any phone connect with just a VIN all anyone would need to do is walk up with a smart phone and enter the vin to access basic functionality; that makes no sense and buddies would be playing with me. Ford is granting certain access prior to purchase (ownership) but I assume can terminate it also. Pretty sure ford keeps track of what vins have been entered under what user and grants accesses per user. Do not give your log in name and password here and have a good password. If you loose a phone report it. If you mention strange things are happen to Ford most likely they will look a bit more closely at their granted accesses tied to your specific account/vin.

Ford has granted my account access for one vin to set up a remote profile and a Activate vehicle tap. Ford knows where it is; hope they grant location access when they start to send them home.

You have to admit with the mache's lines it looks pretty good in any color; it is a sharp looking vehicle to me. Most have a grey. Less attention the better for me. Grey does not show the salt (and dirt) as much. Less of a ticket magnet. With more HP and 30% more torque than the v8's I have been driving the color may not matter if the kid in you takes over (keep it on whisper!! bang head on dash) ;)?
Which iPhones work with this (Phone As Key)? The Apple web site says iPhone XR and newer I believe but here a specific iPhone isn't listed. I have an iPhone X and my wife has an iPhone 6s; will they both work? Neither one work? I'm confused between Apple site and this information. I told my wife that she would be able to use her iPhone as key (when I first read about this feature) and not carry a FOB; now after being on Apple's site I told her our phones won't work. She is disappointed now. Help me out.

The Mach-E does not use Apple's new Wallet/Key thingy-do. It will work with pretty much any smartphone, Android or Apple, that has bluetooth and the FordPass app loaded.

Yeah, what you're seeing there is Apple CarKey, which is not the same as Ford's Phone as a Key. The reason Apple CarKey requires a newer iPhone is that it uses NFC. So older phones without NFC won't work. I'm really glad that Ford isn't using that because it requries you to physically place your phone in a certain spot to use it as a key. I much prefer Ford's implementation that uses Bluetooth so that you can leave your phone in your pocket. It also has the added benefit of supporting much older iPhones (and Android).

i7 256 on 14.2. Have seen the app restart (initiates) when coming from background some times. Hope your right about the pocket and it wakes up when in BT range if not active. It is a good concept; one ring to rule them all.
