don't take it so personal. They complain about ford and/or the mach e here because it is the ford mach e forum. I got to think/hope that just because they make a negative comment about ford or the mach e they don't think it is worse then any world event or they have a worse life issue then other people.
I take none of it towards me. I just can see where there is a mistake or overreacting. The problems I personally have with the mache.

The first edition. Why the name and the cost if not getting it first. Should have had another name or been let known that is not what it means. Now you do get a few things for the price upgrades but I didn't get one since I wanted the grey interior.

The mache drop. If they wanted to keep it secret like they did fine. But the dealers and ford were not on the same page and it was a cluster #^$%%.

After that everything has been things that have been proven wrong. End of the day no matter what it is can't make everyone happy. When the dealerships are gone one day and it's all order and it gets there. Won't be any communication but you order and here is the expected time. Can change like amazon prime not making it in time.

Actually, his comments are quite appropriate. The post he was responding to was quite snarky. There's far too little appreciation for the challenges facing the manufacturing sector, far too many who refuse to accept that things are genuinely different, and too many Tesla evangelicals around here for no reason that's constructive. And it's worse elsewhere. Personally, I think @trutolife27 was being nice.
Definitely don’t agree with you here (except the part of Trutolife being VERY nice; he is!!) but it’s Christmas and we have to agree to disagree. Merry Christmas!

also my 1st time ordering a car. 1st ford. 1st ev.

i’m a physician.

i’ve spent most of my life depriving myself... studying, doing research or doing volunteer work instead of partying in undergrad and med school, time away from family and friends during those long years of residency (before they put in those work hour restrictions), delaying marriage and a family of my own because of the training/career....so now i am fortunate enough to afford nicer things. i am as excited as anyone for my mach-e (replacing a 13yo volvo i bought used).

but as a front line worker i have been masking for months, all day long, seeing patients, making sure i don’t bring it home to my family. and i am currently working in one of the countless packed hospitals here in california trying to keep people from dying... many are elderly but some in their 40-50s, my age. it’s heartbreaking any time but especially this time of year. and extremely frustrating at the same time.

i have another shift in the hospital towards the end of january, when my mach-e is supposed to be delivered.

yes it’s 4-6 weeks later than i had hoped. yes i will have to be patient and be deprived (nothing new for me). but it will be something nice to look forward to after what will be another tough month.

merry christmas folks and take care
Thank you, stay safe, and Merry Christmas.

For what it is worth, I waited for almost a year for a freaking minivan! ? Honda was expected to launch the Gen 5 Odyssey in late summer/early fall of 2016. Because there are certain features I really wanted with the new model, such as a more powerful engine, a 10-speed automatic transmission, onboard Wi-Fi hotspot, Android Auto and CarPlay support, etc., I decided to wait a couple more months. What was supposed to be a brand new ’17 Odyssey became a carryover of the ’16 model year; in early winter the Accord I had been driving hit a deer, resulting in over $2,500 in repairs - insurance covered most of it, I paid the $500 deductible; the following spring A/C broke down just when we started to have a hot day here or there, but I didn’t want to spend more money on a car toward the end of my ownership. Production finally started at the end of April in 2017 and six weeks later I drove home the first ’18 Odyssey my dealer had received. If Honda had launched the vehicle on time, I could have avoided those frustrations/annoyances. But in the end I got a vehicle that I really like, and it doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things.

Merry Christmas!

As a dental specialist of 40 years I know where you’re coming from and know what deprivation is. I, too, have had to wait and I understand that. This is not the issue here! It’s the almost total lack of communication by Ford in their rollout of the Mach E and the anger and frustration it is causing. Ford’s grade on this is an F-! I hope they learn something from this on their next rollout of a new vehicle. Merry Christmas ?

When I ordered the Focus Electric I had no insider info, nothing like we have here.

Consequently the salesperson at our dealership had to endure weekly calls from me: "Is it there yet? any news?" "No, not again this week".

In comparison the process with the Mach-E has been serene. Sure I've only got about 3 e-mails from Ford in total, but thanks to here, I've had dates to wait for. So:
  • Placed reservation in November 2019 knowing I wouldn't see the car for a good year
  • Learned via e-mail and these forums that orders will be taken in the spring
  • Once order placed known from here about OKTB and shipping
  • Given the estimates here I'm now not expecting the car until at least mid-Feb
Note the lack of communication from Ford in this list. All that would be required is a small e-mail informing of "ok you are now at this step, and don't expect the next step until XYZ date". Then you would know that you have to wait for XYZ date.

Of course, this year it has been really, really difficult to nail down XYZ date when the step would actually happen...

Even an automated monthly e-mail reminding you of your order, its status, and maybe the anticipated next step (and an estimate for when that step will happen) would have been helpful.

I agree completely; great post! I, myself, have only received exactly ONE communication from Ford.

This entire thread reminds me of what the folks who ordered a Ford Thunderbird went through in 2001. They placed their orders a year in advance and waited over a year to take delivery; only to be told that their brand new Thunderbird HAD to go back to the Wixom Plant due to a problem with the hydraulic pump for the fan on the 252 HP V-8. You can imagine how well that went over! But they had something we don't with our Mach E's; COMMUNICATION! While waiting for their Thunderbird, Ford sent out boxes called "Manage the Wait". Every two to three months those who ordered were sent a box which contained things like Thunderbird opera window book ends, 1/16 th model Thunderbirds in the color they ordered (I would have had Torch Red but I didn't order my Thunderbird - I bought it on the lot!), and other Thunderbird memorabilia. When all the boxes were lined up they made an image of the Thunderbird logo which was way cool! Thunderbirdnest.com was born and the members were excited talking about their cars with each other even though they had to wait over a year. Talk and banter went on and on over those months and they were happy! There was no guessing on when their cars would be produced, delivered, etc. My wife and I even got a one-on-one tour of the Ford Wixom Assembly Plant (thanks Dave) where I was allowed to go up to the assembly line and pick up a Thunderbird emblem. I have a picture of Susan and me standing alongside a brand new Thunderbird ready to roll off the line for the first time; how exciting!!

Fast forward 20 years and we're witnessing another rollout only this time folks aren't so happy!!! This thread is testament to that. Ford KNOWS HOW to communicate they just dropped the ball big time on the Ford Mustang Mach E. This is precisely what I am complaining about and many of the other forum members too. They know how to do it but they failed with us! Granted there is Covid-19 and the assembly plants are in two different countries now, but give me a break!! Ford (and I know you monitor this forum), you need to get your act together for the rollout of the 2021 F-150 and the 2021 Ford Bronco. Don't put those folks through what we've had to endure this past year.

Been saying it all along. Nov/Dec 2019, big fanfare; January till end of May crickets. May to Dec. confusion abounds from the lack of communication. But! They are being built and all is forgiven. Though I'll hold my final assessment for the purchase.

Why is the car not ready, Why not hype the mache, So since the oktb took an extra 3 weeks it's not ready? Ford said from the beginning the mache will be ready in late 2020. If 1 mache is sold before the end of 2020 then they keep the original estimate.

How many do you need to be sold for you to JUDGE ford better? 20,000?200?20?
IN the history of modern time. We have seen nothing like what covid has done. Zero, notda, nothing.

I mean I guess I should have called out the toilet paper people when they had two bears wiping their ass with toilet paper in the wood and made it look so comfortable for my bun hole.
When I went to go buy it, the shelves are empty. Not even any john Wayne T.P.

Another biggest problem is the school system hyping up the school year. I mean why do I have to teach two kids at home and also myself and my wife try to keep our jobs? I mean really school system step your game up.

Everyone was so hungry and mad over the oktb. Now it's the shipping? Glad I'm not a witch you might put me to the stick and flame.

A lot of people on here are out of touch with the real world. The mache is coming it's being shipped, everything is moving as well as the circumstance will allow ford to move.

Happy holidays and bless you and your family and the way you celebrate them.

P.S. For all the upset people that maybe don't like it. Just think about the people out there that would give anything for some clean drinking water or a hot meal. What people have we become.
I totally agree. My son is a medical clinician front line battling Covid. He is on me all the time about Masking, hand washing and no traveling for the holidays or anything else. I know we are all waiting longer than we expected, but if you think about all the moving parts to the process of assembling a vehicle? It's mind boggling! In order for people to stay safe and still produce a reliable product must require a ton of special steps that they ordinarily would not have to add. I think a little patience is in order.

I don’t usually comment like this on forums but just wanted to put the perspective out there. This is not intended as a dig or put down to peeps just my perspective. I get peeps various frustrations with Ford. The fact is this whole launch/vehicle is new for Ford and COVID has tipped everything on its end. IMHO it’s a little unfair to hold Ford accountable for things out of their control. Ford has stumbled but they are learning. They fully understand the consequences riding on the launch of this vehicle as it is their first ground up BEV.

COVID delayed the car and then OKTB delayed shipping. COVID? Ford had no control over. OKTB? Ford wanted to make sure a minor issue was addressed. A shoutout to Fords customer centric ideology. I don’t want to have to take the car back for repairs. Even if it’s an OTA update, Ford cannot manage the experience/expectation if they relied on the dealers/customers to do the first update. It’s good customer service and having set expectations enables a smooth transaction for everyone.

As far as communication? It’s easy to say in hindsight what should have been done. It’s also important to note what was not said. I don’t remember Ford saying that First Edition holders would get their cars first. That was speculation on the forums. As for the First Edition name, I always took it to mean it was the first of this model; Like a collector’s edition. I bought into the chatter and ordered the FE because I thought it was cool to get the limited edition and that I may come first. My cars just rolled off the line two days ago. Totally not getting it first despite reserving on 11/17/2019 and having a FE model.

The main point I am getting at is that peeps who reserved/ordered the vehicle have budgeted for a car that, up until this last month, didn’t really exist. It is clear peeps don’t need the car otherwise why wait so long for release when you can get something today. Getting upset for things outside your control only adds to your frustration. Ford is working the situation as best as possible. They are learning and I am sure they are taking notes. It’ll take time for them to build out a model for this new type of launch process. Complaining about any of this is just a first-world problem.

There are Pros and Cons to this whole situation. The positive (I would suggest to say) healthy way to deal with the wait is to go over the Pros/Cons. The following pertains to me, but I’d suggest peeps adapt them to their individual situation.

Pro: I will eventually get to drive a sweet ride.

Con: I have to wait for the car.

Pro: I don’t have to struggle financially to get the car.

Con: I have to wait for the car.

Pro: I have a roof over my head and food in my stomach.

Con: I have to wait for the car.

Pro: I get to meet new peeps on the forums and get exposed to different idea/perspectives.

Con: I have to wait for the car.

Pro: Letting grievances go, for things you cannot control, adds to your overall wellbeing and reduced stress.

Con: I have to wait for the car.

Pro: I still have my health

Etc. Etc. Etc.

In closing, always look at the bright side of life and nothing will seem as bad/frustrating as it may seem.
