That is correct! what can I use the data for? well I would like to see how my electric bill is affected since buying the EV will it justify the cost to get solar. I created a excel sheet to crunch some numbers for me but I would like an automated system to do it for me and most importantly to keep a historical record of the usage. Here is the sheet I created. My provider (Duke Energy) has three separate charges, they charge per kWh then for fuel cost and asset fee.

I also have the ChargePoint Home Flex and I recently used the data showed by GaterGrowl to determine my approximate cost for charging over 34,000 miles, which averages out to about $35/month or $420/year.

18,000/12=1500 miles monthly on average. We have off peak charging rate of about $.07/kwh from our electric coop. We are retired with one car and only one long drive over 250 miles, so very little DC charging.

Wow thats incredible. if my calculations are correct, driving a car that does 25 miles per gallon with a fuel cost of $3.15 a gallon thats $189 a month in gas and your paying $35 thats an incredible.

My only real daily commute is 12 miles round trip 4 days a week and I try to add any errands I need to run during that trip too.

i wanted an EVSE that i could integrate into my existing home automation system (home assistant). in addition to data collection for charging i can alert on the status of charging indicators both from the fordpass home assistant integration and the EVSE so i'll have my own control over notifications of charging faults, reminders to plug-in, etc.

Yes, we came up with the same approximate figures with two plug in vehicles over the past 5 years, adjusting for variations in gas mileage. Our last ICE vehicle was a Honda Accord that got around 30 mpg for routine daily driving as I recall. My wife tells me our gasoline bill (BP card) typically ranged from $200-400/mo.

Oh yeah I have heard how high the cost are. Have you thought about adding solar? I guess the higher the fees the faster the pay off will be.
I have 24 solar panels and still end up paying.

Wow 24 I just got a quote for a 13 panel setup, I think I'm going to give it a while to see how the car affects my bill before I decide.

Your 13 will be more efficient than my 24 from 2012, most likely. Here in CA, you have to install a battery at the same time.

Yeah i can see new panels being more efficient. I did not know that in California it's required to have a battery bank too that was expensive I bet. I was thinking of getting a battery bank but I'm not sure.
