Mine does it too - quite regularly in fact.

First the door keypad lights up, then the IR lights behind the steering wheel light up the interior for about 90 seconds, then it goes back to sleep. Without night vision (IR camera) - you just see the door panel light up and go off, and you can’t see the cabin interior light up.

I’d always presumed it was the car checking for updates and talking to the mothership. (video below)

Not necessarily. 1.6 and 1.4 are entirely different updates that updated completely different modules, they could be delivered in either order. So you might be ready for 1.7.1 now.

Sounds good. I actually had an appointment with dealer service for the update yesterday that I canceled. I decided to wait and see if I get it OTA. I had a 2019 Edge ST that was also supposed to update OTA. Not once in 3 years did I get an OTA. Saving grace was the ability to download updates yourself and install from a thumb drive. I wish they would allow that with the Mach e
