I wonder how that will work with the options. For example in our case:

mustang-mach-e-price-increase-png.png

The base select went up by $3,000. The 2022 MSRP for the select with tech/comf pakage was $47870. In my opinion the closest car to what we ordered is the premium which is now $54,975. The premiums were increased by an additional $2875.

I hope they give us the option of adjusting based on the premium. Ford said that they would be taking into account the options to "match us to the next car"
Exactly! Apples and apples… I don’t want to pay more and have less features, no rebate, and in my case not the color I chose. I hope they give an option to change the model even if there is a compromise of course in price… but not holding my breath.

It really isn’t a comparable model for ā€˜23. I absolutely do not expect to be offered a premium as a convert for my select with T/C, but at this point it might be the only thing they could do to keep my order. As a New England driver, the idea of buying a $50k car, let alone any car, that doesn’t have heated seats is crazy. Most current cars offer heated seats regardless of price level.
Lol I’m in so Cal, I will not give up heated seats. I will go buy a Toyota before I do that. It’s my final line in the sand.

Anyone have any insight on what they are going to do with this "special offer"? The Ford dealership specifically promised price protection if I was to be moved to 2023 - ie paying the same for the 2023 model.

I see three potential scenarios:
1. The give us a 2023 premium model for free or at either a small price increase.
2. The try to sell us a 2023 model for the base price of the 2022 model.
3. They completely screw us over and give us a small discount and a free membership to their car subscription.

I'd only accept 1
You’re not going to get that, and if that’s the only acceptable alternative for you, you need to start planning alternatives right now. What you’re going to get at best is 2022 price protection on a 2023 model that is most similar to what you ordered. While thus far from ideal, that’s the most likely scenario, they may or may. It toss in a few extras but nothing significant.

The 2022 Select With comfort/technology is not most similar to the 2023 base model.

I'd begrudgingly pay an extra 2k for a premium. This is the least Ford can do in my eyes.

Same... it's not only heated seats, it's powered mirrors and other things. The base select also requires a subscription to use the 360 camera and blue cruise.

What car does cost $50,000 including all fees without these options?

-Power liftgate
-Power mirror fold
-Memory seats and mirrors
-Heated seats and steering wheel
-Cargo area cover
-360 degree camera with split view and front washer will be a 90 day trial only. (You own it out right for 2022 with CT)
- BC is now 90 day trial. (It used to be 36 months)

I have an answer. It is a 2023 Mach E Select. Why do I want to spend $50k for a big steel can with an electric motor and a battery on wheels?

I understand that. The change stinks for those with 2022 orders who have yet to have their builds scheduled. But those thinking a premium at select prices is fair compensation is far from realistic. The proper thing in my mind is for Ford to build all tte 2022’s at the agreed upon price, then start building 2023’s — even if that means building 2022s well into the new year.
Realistically though, the best that can probably be expected is 2022 price protection on a similar 2023. If people are not dissatisfied with that they need to make Ford aware of that in writing and think carefully about their commitment to this vehicle.

I agree. I am not expecting to get a premium for the price of a select. As I said in a previous post, a RWD select with tech/comf was around 47k, a premium RWD was 49k. The LEAST Ford can do is let us upgrade to the premium for an extra 1k-2k

That might be the be the closest match for a 2022 select with both packages. Not exactly obviously. All in all this isn’t the best scenario for those waiting.

Without knowing what Ford will do for us 2022 orders still pending, I am planning on an alternative: BMW i4 and Audi eTron.

Both brands are what I have owned in the past 25 years so very familiar with them.

Ford better step their game up because there are alternatives to the MME.

My Ford Lightning - not so much unless you consider Rivian a major brand....

When Ford put similarly large price increases in place on the F150 Lightning, the private offers apparently matched up exactly with the price increase:

2023 Ford F-150 Lightning Price – August 92022 Ford F-150 Lightning Price – August 9+ / – August 9 PriceCustomer Satisfaction Private Offer
Pro$46,974$39,974+$7000$7,000
XLT$59,474$52,974+$6500$6,500
XLT High$68,474$62,474+$6000$6,000
XLT High Extended Range$80,974$72,474+$8500$8,500
Lariat$74,474$67,474+$7000$7,000
Lariat Extended Range$85,974$77,474+$8500$8,500
Platinum$96,874$90,874+$6000$6,000
https://fordauthority.com/2022/08/f...otects-order-holders-against-price-increases/

I think this is the best guide to go by honestly. There is a lot of concern right now, but hopefully, the 2022 -> 2023 conversions will be covered at least similar to the Lightning folks.

I know the 2021 -> 2022 folks made out ok.

We'll find out what happens when the emails go out. I'm sure they know about the tax credit so even if the increase in price credit matched, there is little they can do for the tax credit. We sorta knew that was going down by 1/2 after 2022.

I want to add that BMW has no price protection so if they raised prices, you're stuck with the 2023 pricing for their i4 I've read.

I honestly never felt the Select w/ Tech/Comfort was a good idea and why I chose Premium to start. The increase was minimal and that maybe why the Premiums were the hardest to find in my searches. Was just a no brainer to go Premium I feel. Sure, $2k is still $2k, but from the specs, maybe the Premium was the best "value" when priced in the 2022 model.

It's too late now, but we will know what Ford plans in a few days/a week.

The thing is, all you were really getting for the added 2k was a glass roof (who cares?) projector headlights (meh) and a Premium sound system, and the sound system on the Select is already really good. It was a really good package to have and I'm sorry they dropped it.

Edit: also the Select w/ Comforts were generally being built way faster then the Premiums. Mine was ordered in January, built in April, and delivered in May. I'm surprised they did not prioritize completing these given they are dropping the package...

One's person meh is another person's requirement honestly. To each their own of course, but from my old notes, I noted:

Select + Comfort / Technology Package vs Premium differences ($1,505)
19" Alum Wheels w/ High Gloss Black
Panoramic Fixed-Glass Roof
LED Projector Headlamps with Signature Lighting
B&O 10-Speaker Sound System

The Premium also lost the side acoustic glass due to supply issues I think vs. Select. Maybe the $1.5k wasn't worth it for you, but to me, it was a no brainer (and of course, this is personal preference...I suppose unless someone hated the glass roof or larger wheels, $1.5k in my build was an easy decision).

The grill also looks better on the Premium IMO (there's that plasticy piece on the Select I think). My price difference was probably when I ordered with 2021 pricing.
