What's going on with my range?

It's only March; why is my year old car getting such a great range estimate?

Side note, something I hadn't seen before. The range estimate changed from 275 to 278 while I was looking at it. Charging was already complete.

My range has been jumping +- 5 miles while drive. When I stop at a light it jumps up and 2 blocks later goes back down.
The other night I charged to 80% showed 265 miles. The next morning it was at 229 miles 80%.

That's pretty good range for March temperatures in the 30s.

I think you got the wrong battery. You were supposed to get the standard range battery, but you must have gotten the extended range battery. Bring it back to the dealer; i am sure they will fix you up.

I read the manual but couldn’t find GOM anywhere!

My GTPE got the recall done a month ago and I think they must have installed extra battery cells.

I've seen weird battery % and range estimates since the HVBJB recall was done. Prior to the recall, I've only seen the % and range go down overnight with the car parked. After the recall (and all the computer modules updated) Now it will randomly go up over night, by as much as 3% and 20-30 miles.
So for example, I may park it at 72% and 180 miles remaining, then the next morning it may show 75% and 208 miles remaining.
