Between the Ford’s “Ok Ford..”, Siri and Alexa- I’m wondering if its overkill. Do you use them all? If not, which one do you use? I’m using Siri the most, but wonder if I’m missing something by not using the others.

I love Ford sync for controlling the music on my 512G USB key, Ok Ford play Nightwish!

Alexa in the car let’s you set the temperature, change the radio station, get directions using the built in Nav, etc. I also use Hey Siri via CarPlay to initiate phone calls, send text messages, etc.

Google Assistant when I do which is really only when responding to a text by voice. I occasionally search for a location in Waze by voice (tapping microphone icon). Honestly, not sure what voice assistant kicks in for that. Google owns Waze so that is probably Assistant. Google is heavily invested and very far along with voice recognition and natural language AI. I highly doubt Ford is even close. Software company vs automaker.

Is it just me, or does anyone else laugh every time someone else says, “Hey Siri, search xxxxxxxx” and she responds, “I don’t understand…..”

After a decade of listening to people try and fail with voice commands, I try to avoid talking to Siri if possible.

Voice recognition tech seems like it’s always sucked.

I don't want you or anyone to take this the wrong way but I have found a lot of it has to do with the person's speech/voice.

I have a friend that absolutely cannot use Siri or any other voice recognition. It only understands half the words he says. This is true for about 20% of the people I know using voice recognition of any kind. They have a very hard time with it. My dad (he is 92) cannot use Siri as it just does not understand what he says where as my mom (same age) it works perfect for her and uses it daily in the home. Some friends are amazed when in my car listening to me text which sometimes can turn into a book and Siri gets it perfect. I never have Siri read back, I just sent it. I haven't had any issues with Alexa either when I've used it before.

Google Assistant. Been using ever since its been available on my Google phone and room lights. It works well if you speak every word in your sentence one at a time lol slower too. I used Ford Sync. I wish I could switch the "Ok..." to "Hey...." Some copyright issue probably.

Inside the car, Siri for Nav, texting, phone calls and music.

Away from the car, Siri for remote start, lock, unlock, battery level, range, tire pressure, etc.
What, I didn’t know Siri could do that! She can start the car? Unlock doors? Definitely an ah ha moment. Thanks

Alexa. Very well implemented in the Mach e. Works seamlessly with home automations, skills and routines.

Alexa and Google are spies, we won't allow them access. Siri for us. Works flawlessly.

I live in coastal Florida, the land of the “No accent.”

As I said, it doesn’t seem to work with other people.

Siri has sucked since her inception.

Ford for navigation. The Ford app actually pronounces Hawaiian road names almost correctly. Apple and Waze butcher the Hawaiian names. Every once in a while I'll use it to set the temperature. Other than that I use Siri.

This is cute...

You think Siri is the guardian of all your secrets??? Unless you specifically opt out to improving voice recognition anything you say to Siri is analyzed by Apple and retained for 6 months. Google and Amazon have similar policies with better control of your data allowing you to delete it at any point.

Do any of them work with the built-in navigation aside from the Ford voice commands?

I don’t use Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and it bugs me how bad the Ford voice commands are at setting destinations since the navigation locks you out while moving.

I’ll point out that Apple expressly states that they don’t monetize any of your information or usage data. Neither Google or Alexa make a similar statement. I also find it creepy that Amazon turns over my data to LEO without notifying me. I do use Amazon products, but as little as possible.
