Why charging door is not lockable?

Since most ICE car fuel doors need to be opened via a latch inside the car, is there any rational for Ford not to have done the same for the MME charging port door?
I'm not a fan of drive through car washes, but even a hand wash often results in playing wack-a-mole with that door!

Not sure if most ICE are that way anymore. Charge door works exactly the same as my 2015 Mustang and 2016 Edge gas doors.

I think the lockable/latched ICE fuel doors are potentially more to do with the ability to steal fuel than to simply keep the fuel door closed. Just a guess on my part though.

Most vehicles today aren't that way, because you can no longer syphon gas out.

Good point. The brushes may only spin clockwise. This may prevent all non-lockable fuEVl doors to remain closed. Let's not discrimination ice or ev doors by calling all doors fuevl doors.

I pointedly located the touchless ones in places I frequent to prevent issues from them. Problem avoided.
