I’ve got 3 kids. 3 boys. Young boys. Boys who unbuckle all the darned time. And yet…. They’ve never managed the precarious act of contorting themselves into just the right position to stand in the rear footwell for any period of time without making significant contact with the rear seat. And if they someone did pull off this cirque du soleil feat, you really think the driver needs an alert to tell them this? I’m gonna stop beating this dead horse, but I just find it funny how some people will twist themselves into such silly, implausible scenarios to justify poor design! :)
I wanted to react with both a “like” and a LOL

So first, the problem is that the alert stays on even after the car comes to a full stop and has even been placed in park. If it switched off at that point, I’d be cool with it. But also….

Except that it seems there are no rear weight sensors according to what others have posted.

The alert is just a notice of a seatbelt being unbuckled.

No cirque du soleil needed.

And if there are truly no weight we sensors, how else could the alerts be any better?

Ok, what value is the below at all? Here’s the scenario: two friends and I were out to dinner. One in the front passenger seat and one in the rear seat. I’m driving home, come to a complete stop, let my two passengers out, and continue on my way. Why is Ford cluttering up my instrument panel with information about non-existent passengers?

Yeah, annoys me every weekday morning too. I hope it gets fixed. I hope it can be fixed...I mean maybe it can't tell there is no one in the seat (e.g. no weight sensor) any longer. I understand why it is there...so you know if your little one unlatched their seatbelt while driving. Hmmm...so maybe it should ignore this if the corresponding door opens and shuts. Interesting case of how to know not to show if there is no weight sensor.

If no weight sensor, it just has a sensor on the seat belt itself. Then it knows if it was latched then isnt.

And if that’s the case (no weight sensors), there is no “fix.”

This whole thread aside from one correct answer is Exactly Why manufactures have to protect consumers from Window Blind cords, 5 gallon buckets, and leaving kids in the back seat to die in the heat. The warning sequence is initiated by sensors and the seatbelts, If using 'OK' will work then great or reset the car, and if it saves one driver from a devastating mistake, I'll look at it all day everyday after my two teenagers exit the back seat and I drive off.. Manually clicking the seatbelts in after rear passengers exit did not reset the sequence for me, it is Harley convenient but a software update may have changed something?.

Refastening the unbuckled belts makes the notification auto-clear on my car. I probably have newer IPC software than the '21 cars.

Mine too, so I don’t think the IPC software changes the behavior.

Bugs or no-bugs, I've never owned a car that required so many OK presses for alerts. LOL. Clearly, a lawyer designed the warning/alert system.
  • When I get in and the seat moves forward: "Personal profiles can't be selected"
  • Rear seatbelt messages
  • Key not found - even though the phone let me in, it's on the charger, and I'm backing out
  • ..... and so many fantastic others!
