2023 MME Premium AWD ER here. Range has (as expected) decreased by about 30% as winter has set in here in Wisconsin (temperature 20s-30s F, range down from about 280 miles to about 190 miles). Next week it’s going to be in the single digits and I’m driving to the airport, about 140 miles away, with my family and some luggage. Technically, I should have a range buffer of about 50 miles. I’d like to hear from some members of this forum who have direct experience with an estimate of how much more I should expect my range to decrease, given the really low temperatures and higher cabin weight. I’ll post my experience when I’ve had it.
Thanks!
I have a 2021 premium standard range and live in the northeast. Last January we had a stretch of brutal cold (didn't get over 20F for a few weeks) and the lowest range we had on 100% charge was 138 miles. So you should be fine with an ER battery. I echo the other commenters here: don't be a speed demon, precondition and warm the cabin and use the seat and steering wheel heaters to keep everyone warm. Good luck!

This. Remember that drag squares with speed - maybe not exactly correct at highway speeds, but the faster you go the harder it is to go fast.

So I set my thermostat to 67 degrees and drive 53-55 and my typical range is 3.1-3.2 mi/KWh in 34 degree weather. Miles/percent of battery is right at 2.1. AWD Select SR.

I just recently had an eye-opening experience here in Calgary, Alberta. -26 Celsius (-14.8 F) in my Premium ER AWD full report on this post: https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...comparison-including-mach-e.24260/post-567694

In CT my range at 95% SOC went from 280 down to 212. Mine is a ‘21 Premium AWD ER. I’m retired so the drop is not a concern.

You should be OK ; however, I would check as to when the recharging takes place. I would request recharge right away and not after it sits in the lot
I’d request two charging sessions. One on arrival to 50-80% range, and a 2nd before departure to 100%. You don’t want them topping you off to 100% and have it sitting there in the cold for the duration of your trip (depending on how long that is).

If you turn off the air heater and turn on recirculation and auto hmseat heater and wheels. You will save a lot of battery.(wear a jacket lol)

And freeze the family in the back seat?

Ford didn't think through their Winter milage recommendations when deciding to not put in rear seat heaters. It likely saved them at most $100-200 and 5 pounds weight.

Right. The heated steering wheel and heated front seats go a long way towards keeping me comfortable but my rear occupants are screwed. I should probably keep a wool blanket back there ?

OP here, I have an update. I preconditioned the car and did a test drive during the cold snap, it was 2F and 20 mph winds at departure. The car’s stated range was 186 miles at 100%. At turnaround, 75 miles from home, I had a 100 miles range remaining. I did test an EA fast charge station, supposedly up to 350kW but closer to 37-38 kW in that temperature. That took about 1/2 an hour to give me a 40 mile push. Experiment concluded, I drove back. Today I drive to the airport without worrying. Thanks to everyone for their helpful tips.

I should add that the only unexpected hitch was that the cruise control and associated functions kept fritzing out in the blowing snow.

Setting departure time to precondition will add 20 miles. Our Gtpe summer avg 285 with precond at 0 deg f now 230 vs 210 without.
