Check out this story from US News. They compare the Mustang Mach-E with the Tesla Model Y head-to-head.

Their story strikes me as a fair comparison and I liked their choice of the winner!

Maybe the IRS needs to read the first line in the story and take notes…apparently the MME is an “SUV”.

I’m obviously biased because I own the MME but their conclusion makes no sense…ford wins cuz of apple CarPlay and lower base price so they consider it a nonluxury vehicle even though the GTPE is actually more expensive than the MYP. Tesla has everything else: acceleration, range, cargo capacity but loses because it’s a luxury vehicle. 🤷‍♂️

I also don't see *why* The Model Y is a Luxury SUV but the MME is not? Is just because of the brand, so if we had a Lincoln Cougar Mach-E it would be a Luxury SUV?

It’s not even a review. Doesn’t seem like they drove nor actually tested either car. They just read the specs and assigned a “winner.”

What’s silly is some don’t even make sense.

“Acceleration,” for example. They quote the 0-60 (4.8 and 3.5) for Y. Then the Mach E (6.1, 4.8, 3.8 and 3.5) then just say the Y “wins.”

Now had they actually done a drag race I could understand. But based on the specs, how is there a “winner?”

We traded in our MY for a 2023 i4 40eDrive last month after getting our MME Premium w/extended battery. Both are far superior vehicles IMHO to the MY.

Except that they fell for the EPA range trick. They should have done their research to know that the Y doesn't come close to its EPA numbers, and at worst the efficiency and range categories should have been a tie.

I own both and I can say that the Y is far superior to the Mach E in the winter but the Mach E is superior in the summer. When you take into account charging speed the Y wins and is my go to when road tripping.

i have a 22 MY and a 23 MME CR1. the only thing better about the MME is the looks.
for the price tesla offer way more than an MME. the tech in the tesla is way better. 1 pedal is way better self driving is better. charging is better. the heating systems are better. the acceleration is better. etc. i got the MME because i wanted one and i knew what i was losing by not going with a tesla.

i have a 22 MY Performance and a 23 CR1 in NJ. at 80% charge on the MY i have 230 on the MME i have 210(barely). The y has better range right now. i can't wait to see what the summer does.

That sounds like a tie to me WRT range, although I will absolutely concede regarding DCFC charging. However, what is the Y's ACTUAL range in summer? Every test I've seen from trade publications who've ACTUALLY tested it to well-known EV testers has shown the Y falls far short of its EPA range in warm weather.

I've had a CR1 in NJ for 2 years and my actual winter range is generally better than 210; are you using the guess-o-meter to state the 210 mi range or multiplying 90 * mi/kwh? The worst efficiency I've had is 2.5 mi/kwh, which yields a "real" range of 225 mi - and I took the aerocovers off a month after I bought it. Most of the time I get 2.8 mi/kwh in winter.

As for the Y in summer, see above.

As an owner of a 2010 Honda Sabre, I can definitively say that the MME is infinitely better for everybody than the MY, which I have never driven.

The real world 70-75 mph range in the summer in the model y is about 260 miles and in the Mach E is about 270. Winter is a different story, MY is 190 Mach E 170. As for multiplying efficiency by capacity, the Mach E battery capacity goes down in the winter so if you use 90 KWh as your capacity you will get stranded.
