When I drove a Tesla, I often saw little microaggressions from other drivers, particularly pickups, and especially diesels. Some of it was imagined, sure, fed by stories of coal rolling, tailgating, brake checking, ICEing chargers, etc.

I also saw regular-way aggressions, including coal rolling, tailgating, brake checking, ICEing chargers, etc. Sometimes a little scary, often annoying, and always unnecessary.

So, I wonder, do you get the same thing when driving a Mach-E? I mean, it's got a Ford logo on it, so that ought to make some people's heads explode and might change some others' minds. Does the Mach-E get away with being an EV because it's not an obvious EV?

Curious what other's experience has been.

I haven’t seen that at all. I’ve seen lots of people ignore me because they’re not paying attention or maybe they just think it’s another SUV. I’ve seen a handful of people clearly interested and give me a thumbs up or a smile or something like that. But no one has rolled coal or tried to push me off the road or anything crazy, thankfully. No more minor things like tailgating or brake checking either.

I’m sure it’s area dependent. I could see such a thing happening infrequently in my area so I was a little worried. But no problems in about 9 months. I’m in the Midwest, not darkest red Deep South.

The one time I spotted a truck that made me a little worried, we ended up next to each other at a light and he gave me a big smile.

ICEing chargers? I’ve seen it at some level two chargers but I don’t think anyone is being malicious. I think they just wanted the better parking spot and didn’t see (or perhaps did and didn’t care).

There has been at least 10 instances that people want to race us at the light, and all of them so far have been tesla drivers. We always just pretend we'll race them then go on our own business. One time, waze app showed cop ahead and the tesla driver actually got pulled over. Too bad waze isn't available in tesla.

I've seen this a handful of times where the driver apparently confused EVSE sign for a handicapped spot. Last week though I saw a Tesla park at an EVSE spot, but not plug in.

Zero. None directed at us.

Chevy pickup intentionally parked in EA spot, just to be an ahole.

I only get ICE mustangs revving their engines, not sure how to take that
Put the pedal to the metal and let'em see what happens. I currently drive an ICE GT (see avatar) and unless it's warm out and the tires are warmed up, I will spin the tires when taking off. Granted I have all season tires on it, but I'm willing to bet my MME 4EX (when I get it 50 years from now) will feel faster simply due to instant torque and AWD.

The only thing I have seen different from when I drive my Blazer is people ICEing chargers (since I don’t go to chargers when I’m in the Blazer I don’t tend to see ICEing - and yes I have seen many EV brands ICEing chargers). Oh, and fewer drivers of little tiny cars trying to commit suicide. Seems that a lot of people in little cars either want to intimidate my Blazer, they don’t care if they hit me, or they just don’t see the big ugly monster with the illegally bright headlights. ?ā€ā™‚??

Had a bit of road rage lately but not sure if its aimed at an EV or because I blew them off at the lights. And yes, ICE Mustangs like to rev their engines at me too.

You're supposed to roll down your window and yell "vroom vroom" while looking intimidating.

FWIW, I own an Ice Mustang (Ecoboost), and hope to join the Mach-E family soon. I am in an ecoboost forum very similar to this one as well.

Lots of ICE Mustang owners do not like the Mach-E, and do not consider it to be a Mustang. This is similar to the treatment ecoboost owners get from ICE GT owners (dismissive comments, revved engines at traffic lights, etc.). They take a narrow mind towards Mustang, and can't get past a Mustang being an EV SUV with GT350 performance.

Not me - can't wait till they reopen ordering for the CR1!

Most people don't even know its a BEV. They recognize it as something different but they don't usually make the connection.
i’m pretty sure this is exactly what’s going on. There seem to be two categories of people. One has no idea what the car is, and therefore doesn’t care. The other knows what it is, and seems to be interested in it.

It’s extremely easy to spot a Tesla and everyone knows it’s an electric car. So I’m not surprised that they get the hate from those who want to hate. But I’m guessing those people don’t try to keep up on what the latest cars to hate are.
