I called my assigned dealer to see if they would accept X-Plan. Not only NO but they want $15,000 over MSRP! Ford customer service tells me that I can change the dealer when I complete the order on-line. But by ordering on-line I have no way of knowing what the dealer will charge unless I have an agreement with the dealer before ordering. Does anyone know of a dealer in the San Diego area, or anywhere in Southern California, that will accept X-Plan, or at least MSRP?

This dealer has since contacted me to let me know that the $15k was a salesman's misunderstanding and they offered an acceptable deal.

I had posted that this would happen and was told I was overreacting. But I expected that this would happen. Hopefully not going to be widespread but I'm not holding my breath.

This is exactly why Tesla's no bargain price model is so nice.

My suggestion is to email a bunch of local dealers and ask. Let them know you are a reservation holder and will switch to a dealership that doesn’t charge an ADM and honors x-plan pricing.

I did this when reservations opened. I live in a less populated area than San Diego and emailed the 5 closest Ford Dealerships (I believe this was all dealers within 100 or 150 mile radius). I only got one who would commit to no ADM.

You'll find one that won't charge it. I got the Kia Telluride for my wife when it came out. The first dealer wanted $5k or $10k over MSRP (can't remember which). The next one sold it to me for under MSRP.

Wow --- Make sure you you pass that info as high up the ladder of Ford management as you can get. I cannot believe they are OK with a Ford Dealer charging $15,000 over MRSP on the Mach-E.

And they definitely must not want to sell any Mach-E's because the cost of the X-Plan comes out of Ford's pocket --- not the dealers. This is crazy.

Exactly! The dealers are what ruin these EV's from legacy. Trust me, have a volt (love the car) and BMW i3. Nobody wants to listen during the honeymoon phase with legacy dealers. But you will come to find this out, unfortunately. Especially when you take these out of the ordinary cars for service. They will be learning on yours and not be very competent. This fan site will argue, but been there done that ?

Ford counts the vehicle as sold once it leaves the factory gates. Dealers as independent businesses can set their own pricing. Ford has already told the dealers they can transact with customers at any price they want. But, there are provisions that penalize a dealer for advertising a Mach-E for less than MSRP (e-Invoice).

"But to be clear despite the restriction on advertising, dealers can transact with the customer at any price they choose (at, above, or below MSRP)."

Nothing will convince me faster to switch over to a Model Y performance today than to be told I can pay over MSRP for the privilege of waiting until delivery of a GT late summer of 2021.

Ben - keep checking. I'm up in the LA area and have found several to choose from who say no ADM and X plan (not sure whether that will be any cheaper - won't know until they show what invoice is compared to MSRP). You might have to come into Orange County to find one. No effect on service though since you can bring to any EV Ford dealer, which will be almost all in CA.

I understand that's how it works... but that's why the traditional dealer system sucks.

I'm ok with the Tesla model of fixed MSRP with no negotiation off invoice price, etc.... And I was fine to hear that Ford wants to pursue a somewhat similar model with the MME where there's an MSRP and no invoice pricing.
But it should be a two-way street. If I accept that I'm going to pay MSRP for an MME and not argue for a discount off that "set price" (except maybe AXZ plans offered by Ford across the board), I should also be able to expect that the dealer won't likewise try to negotiate for a price above that "set price."

Again, I understand that's not how it works with independent traditional dealer networks - but that's what frustrates car buyers.

True, the Ford dealer can legally sell the car for $15,000 over MRSP but I don't think Ford will be OK with stories like this on the Forums and Internet and will apply pressure on the dealer.

Probably a moot point --- as this dealer is not be going to sell any Mach-E's.

Which dealerships? I currently have mine set up at Star Ford, but would love to know what the backup is if they wont' accept X Plan.

Most people agree with you. Talk to your state legislature about them removing archaic laws that do more harm than good.

Well that really sucks. I emailed my dealer last week and if I haven't heard anything by tomorrow I'll call them. I'll drop them in a heartbeat. There's at least one dealer in the DC area who has already said they won't charge ADM. Hopefully they'll take X-plan, too.
