Sales of Ford’s Mustang Mach-E bounced back in August, rising 61% from last year. The Mach-E became the second-best-selling electric SUV in the US, behind Tesla’s Model Y.

Although Mach-E sales fell over 20% in the first half of the year as Ford retooled its plant in Mexico, where the electric SUV is built, they are on the rise again.

Production has picked up all year with 0 Mach-E’s being built in January, 300 in February, 7,381 in March, 11,858 in April, 13,639 in May, and another 13,000 in June.

Mach-E sales climbed 61.3% YOY in August to 5,033 units. To put this into persepective, Ford sold a total of 8,633 Mach-E’s between April and June.

With sales climbing, Ford’s Mustang Mach-E became the second best-selling electric SUV in the US behind Tesla’s Model Y.

And go read the last report where they neglected to say the Mach-E line was shutdown impacting sales.

I loved this PR spin from Ford:
Despite reports claiming that a rising number of EVs are sitting on dealership lots, Ford Model e’s vice president of electric vehicle programs, Darren Palmer, insisted “We’re just loading up dealers.”
Translation: We've overestimated demand and are going to make this a dealership problem.

Right? Given their model with the EVs...what's the dealer incentive to sit on inventory? Why would they WANT to be loaded up?

Has anyone ever seen a Mach E commercial? I owned a Chevrolet Volt and a Honda Clarity and never saw a commercial for either of them. Marketing is job one for most companies.

My dealership currently has 4, a select, a premium short range, a premium extended range, and a GT. Not a bad selection for people who want to get a close look and a test drive before buying. I hope the supply and demand levels out so there's always enough cars on lots to prevent significant dealer mark-ups, and allow for test drives and spur of the moment purchases, but not so many that dealers are complaining and refusing shipments.

And then you realize that Tesla has produced 889,015 EVs just in the first 6 months of this year and you realize just how much of a gap there is between the first and second spot.

Interesting for their other models. However the MachE, and Bronco Sport/Maverick are made in Mexico so shouldn’t be significantly impacted.
Inventory to sell, is inventory to sell regardless of where final assembly takes place.

Until you have all the parts to make a car... you can't make a car. Lots of parts that go into MME final assembly come from UAW facilities
