Rapid Red Premium Cost

Anyone have any idea why the rapid red is a premium cost? Even in the first edition, grabber blue was not a premium but the red was.

If I was guessing I’d say premiums were placed on colors Ford expected to be the most popular or those which cost Ford more to produce.

It’s probably due to the pigments to make the colour. I will gladly pay to have that colour.

On Bronco Rapid Red is $295, Race Red is no cost. Went by the Dealership and yup, Rapid is worth it.

It is listed as Grabber Blue Metallic, but I think it is more subtle.

Thats the best answer. That and ALL Fords with Rapid Red, (formally Ruby Red, but with less metallic shine) had an additional cost for it. If I get my Mach E it will be the fifth Ford product I had with Ruby Red...sorry Rapid Red.

the real question is why tesla charges $2000 for a plain red

and they charge 1,000 for a white interior. So if you want a red tesla with a white interior and home link. that is 3,300 dollars.

you add that up and wow cost gets up there when comparing to the mache.

also, the 19 inch rims look so bad on the tesla.. the 20s look way better but that is 2,000 so now you're at 5,300

Because people will pay.

At the end of the day, it's that simple. The paint may cost a bit more, but I'm sure Carbonized Gray isn't the exact same price down to the fraction of a penny as Space White, etc. etc.

Mercedes charges a lot more for red, same with Tesla and others. The tinted clear coat is a bit more complicated, probably slightly more expensive (I suspect that's why it changes subtly depending on the light.)
