I just purchased my 2022 CPO (4 days ago) and got a "check 12 volt battery" notification in the fordpass app. According to this it looks like there have been some updates to help with 12 volt battery drain. Can someone with a subscription look at my update history and tell if I have them? 3FMTK3SU5NMA57240

Just FYI, since the 12V battery is 3+ years old it might be safer to replace it than to rely on charging it back up. These 12V batteries have a high incidence of failure with no notice above the 3 year age plateau. 😰🐩

CPO...was this from a Ford dealer?

Here's the list of available updates showing in FDRS:

You have the 25S65 recall still open. That will update all the powertrain modules in the list above (PCM, ABS, SOBDMC, BECM, SOBDM, SOBDMB). The PTS system says your 12V battery needs to be tested (yellow status) so don't be surprised if that needs to be replaced (roughly $135 without labor). The IPC OTA failed to install back at the beginning of August. That was the latest OTA activity. That update is in your list...along with a CMR update that is also cruise-control related.

Yes. CPO was from a ford dealer. Comes with the 12 month/ 12k CPO warrenty which does not cover the 12 volt I don't think. I have an appointment Thursday to get the recall taken care of. Guess I'll pay them to look at the battery as well. That OTA does show on my update screen but there is no button to do it and it's been like that since I picked up the vehicle.

If the 12v battery is under 3 years old, it’s covered by its own battery warranty through Ford. I got mine replaced free. I had no day-to- day issues, but OTA updates would routinely fail. We now know this is a sign of a failing 12v.

Well the point of me asking that question was that there's 27K+ federal fine for selling you a car with an open safety recall (25S65) and letting you take possession before the work has been performed. So there's that.... look for the part that says "Correct all stock in inventory before delivery" or words to that effect.

and this part....

PLEASE NOTE:
Federal law requires dealers to complete this recall service before a new vehicle is delivered to the
buyer or lessee. Violation of this requirement by a dealer could result in a civil penalty of up to $27,168 per vehicle. Correct all vehicles in your new vehicle inventory before delivery.

It's been less than 3 years but more than 36k miles. Is it a different warranty than the 3/36?

Does that penalty apply to used vehicles as well? They made me sign a paper stating that I knew there was an open recall when I purchased it. I wasn't trying to delay the purchase as I wanted to make sure the $4k tax credit went through smoothly before it was discontinued.

It should since it’s a Ford dealer and a Ford vehicle. It would not have applied if you had bought it from say a Chevy dealer.

The recall clearly states that they were to correct any vehicles in inventory before selling them.

Probably why the had him sign some kind of disclosure. Not sure if that has any merit as far as Ford is concerned, but maybe the sold it with some kind of promise to take care of the recall later to cover their butts?

It did sound like the car was scheduled in for this week. Still, thinking that they'll just get the customer to sign a waiver...that's between the dealership and the customer...not between that dealer and the federal government....pretty risky behavior for what amounts to 25 minutes of programming time.

This dealership was a pretty crappy one. I would not have expected anything more from them. Horrible sales guys. All staff totally unprofessional. Got a good price on the Premium, AWD, extended range though so was happy to purchase before the $4k credit expired and I'll take it elsewhere for the recall. I wouldn't be surprised if they knew about the 12v battery issue as well and just hid it.
