I apologize if this has been posted previously but I wasn't able to find something similar in the threads. This current issue has happened on more than one occasion and is currently happening again on my 2022 Mach-E 4 Select. I plug the car in to charge it at home on my Grizzle-E Smart charger and it won't charge. It also doesn't make the click, click, click noise that I normally hear when it connects. The charger itself is blinking as normal but the car doesn't seem to want to take the charge. When I look at the Ford app, it says "Stopped Charging" so I press Start Charging on the app which loops for a second or so and then goes back to "Stopped Charging". I've unplugged, plugged back in, made sure that no charging times are set in the car but nothing seems to fix it. I've even left it overnight but it never starts charging despite being plugged in and set to charge to 90%. I've attached pictures of the screen in my app and inside the car so you know what I'm seeing. It normally works 95% of the time. Does anyone have a solution or something I can try? Thanks for any support you are able to provide! :)

What I would recommend:
  • Unplug your Grizzl-E or shut off the breaker for 5 minutes to reboot it
  • Put the Grizzl-E in dumb mode by shutting off dip switch #1
  • If you haven’t yet, bring your car in to a dealer and have them install the 12V recall software, which will update the charger module

Thanks Mach-Lee. I'll give it a try. I did notice there was a service bulletin on models made earlier than May 2021 that were not able to charge at home on Level 2 chargers but mine is a 2022 so doesn't apply. Fingers crossed that your suggestion works.

I just tried your fix and it worked, thank you so much!!!! The breaker wasn't tripped and the charger was blinking as normal but I guess it needed that brief reset by turning the breaker off for a while and rebooting it. This refusing to charge has happened a few times but the car charges fine 95% of the time so I'll definitely remember your trick for next time :)

Glad you found a solution.

Another thing for anyone with a similar problem to test is determine if the charging issue is limited to the home charger. Drive to the nearest public L2 charger and plug in to see if the car will charge there.

You can also test to be sure your car will take a DC Fast Charge but that is not as good a test as another L2 charger.

Good idea if the solution above doesn't work. Thankfully, it did.

I have 2021 Mach-E GT extended battery and have had my vehicle in the dealer several times for an inability to charge. I have a Ford Level 2 charger on a 60 AMP breaker. Before I found the forum article the dealer said it had to be my charger because everything worked well for them.

I bought a new charger and installed it and behold the same problem. I then found an earlier post about level 2 chargers and not being able to charger above 32 Amps.

I scheduled an appointment with the dearler again for the problem. This last time my vehicle was in the shop the dealer determined that the car charges fine with their DC charger and is 60 amps. Their AC charger only goes to 32 AMPs so, they are unable to replicate the issue. I provided information about the issue I found in the forum but am not confident they will resolve the issue because of not being able to replicate the proble. Any suggestions on getting a better outcome?

Have someone check your car for trouble codes. Codes relating to charge port temp are what you’re looking for.

Thank you, I appreciate that. I have another appointment next week and will bring that to their attention.
