Tech- the Mach E screen is much larger, 360 view better
Congrats on the Taycan. Gorgeous car. The only EV I lust after more is its cousin, the Audi Etron-GT. The 360 view being better in the Mach E caught my eye, as I've always thought the MME 360 view was atrocious compared to other vehicles I've owned or driven! Anyhow, enjoy and don't be a stranger.

I’m surprised you don’t like the Mach E surround view. It’s the first one I’ve used but I find it to be incredible. Very annoying when it rains but you can’t do much about that unless you have camera wipers. What features is it missing or what’s bad about it? I’m also getting a Taycan but we’re replacing a different car. Never getting rid of the Mach E.

Maybe it’s just the size of the Mach E screen but it also seems less warped.
Here is the 360 on my Taycan-

It’s been a good run with my 21 Mach E GTPE. I’ve enjoyed learning with you all here.

But today I traded it in on a 2024 Taycan 4S.

Honestly no particular reason other than I’ve had my car for 4 years and got the new/different car itch. The Taycan is the first car that got me interested enough to test drive.

I still loved my GTPE.

Taycan is definitely an upgrade, but not in everything.

Performance- Taycan wins pretty much every category except maybe 20-30 mph punch. But handling, acceleration, braking, ride quality etc all go to the Taycan.

Tech- the Mach E screen is much larger, 360 view better and surprisingly the Mach E screen actually responds faster. But other than that the Taycan has way more tech and things it can do. There’s even a 3rd passenger screen.

Luxury- easy win for the Taycan
Style- Mach E looks great, but Taycan still an upgrade

Price- New vs new- Mach E a waaaaay better value. The MSRP on the Taycan I bought was $147,000. But when it comes to the actual purchase…… toss up. I paid $62,500 in 2021 for my GTPE. Adjusted for inflation that’s like $86k in today’s dollars.

I paid almost exactly half of MSRP for the Taycan though. Yes it’s used and 17k miles, but still feels like a great deal. But I also could have gotten a used 24 Mach E for half of that.

Someone I know, a CTO of a large software company, bought one of these. A week after he purchased it, a rock his windshield while he was driving down the highway.

Windshield replacement cost: $5300.

Gee, did you have rain on his parade? Reminds me of an SNL skit …

Congrats on your new Porsche.

I test drove a Taycan 4S as well as the Macan 4S. If your top priority is handling and driving dynamics, nothing beats the Porsches. But I personally passed on buying one due to 1) the lack of one-pedal driving (one of my favorite features of EV's) and 2) less interior space compared to the competition.

But if you are a driving enthusiast and want the best handling sporty EV, the Taycan is top notch.
Yes, both of those minuses are very real. It still amazes me that Porsche doesn't provide 1PD as an option.

On space, I've heard the Taycan referred to as an inverse-Tardis. 😂

That said, I still lust after a Taycan. It would have nothing to do with practicality!

Like you, the Taycan is the only other car I want.

OP, were you a 1PD user in your MME? I am wondering how the German’s 2PD (w/mild regen) compares to the feel of the MME.

Jealous, in the most wholesome way.

Not only is the P-EV beautiful to my eye, but I have had a kid's affinity for Porsche most of my life.

How are you liking the difference in regen? I haven't driven a Taycan myself but I know it doesn't kick-on until you actually use the brakes. That would definitely take some getting used to for me.

Taycan is nice EV, just a bit out of my price range, but the used ones are coming down in price. The much faster charging speeds and the looks are why id do the same. The range i heard isnt as great as the Mach E though.
