I removed mine and like the open space more. I put some foam at the bottom so stuff doesn't rattle the hard plastic. The plugs are only hard to remove because of the tight angles you have to pry at them down there.

I removed the divider, and ruined a couple of the attachment devices. i tried to be super careful, but without that tool, the screwdriver method permanently deformed a couple of the attachments.

The frunk is way more usable now.

Good solution to attach the Battery Tender; I have the same one. Will the plug-in 110 v electric cord fit under the hood when it's closed and the tender plugged in? Do you always leave the tender on since all of these dead 12 volt battery issues?

I heard somewhere on YouTube that this useless divider was added because of some US regulation and apparently other countries won't be getting it. Does anyone here know whether this is true and if so what regulation? The frunk does have the emergency escape button so it does seem that Ford's initial intent was to not have this divider.
Yes, it's true. There's a ton of discussion on this forum about it.

How did you connect the battery tender? BTW your 120 v cord is showing copper.
Did a mouse chew it ?

How easy is it just to remove the center piece so I have more space in the middle?
if you remove the whole thing, the center piece slides out the bottom. You COULD re-install one divider, both, or none after removing the center splitter if you wanted.

we should *not* need a battery tender.... the main pack *should* keep the LVB topped up. Short term fix may be as simple as a battery warmer pad, or 12v electric blanket wrapped around the LVB (and terminal covers where the LVB temp sensors are), which could self-power itself if you live where it is really cold... no external AC, or battery tender needed, since the main battery *should* top up the LVB when needed.

I'm well aware of that but so many are having problems I thought this would be a short time fix until they figure out what is wrong and why some batteries are discharging and not being charged by HVB. I don't have my car yet and probably won't until June or July so for me it should be fixed by then. I was just saying I have the same tender and if I ever need to use it now I know how to connect the permanent leads on the battery terminals so you can just plug the tender in when needed. I used the battery tender on my Thunderbird when I stored it in the winter.

You should be able to pull it out and take out the center divider, and then put the two side pieces back in. It would possibly not be as rigid without that support between them. But that center piece doesn't actually attach to the car, just the two side pieces of the divider. But it slides out from the bottom so you have to fully take it out.

I agree the tender shouldn’t be necessary. My Mach-e is now at the dealership to be fixed (the car is failing to charge the 12 volt). See separate thread.

I just checked the cord, it’s fine (must be a reflection of the overhead light). Thanks.

It’s a ton of work to open the bumper, pulll out the cables, jump the frunk so it will open, remove the top trim piece, remove the drivers side trim piece, charge the battery....

I refused to do all that again (pending a fix), so I kept the drivers window open in the garage so I could open the frunk, and hooked up the tender so I wouldn’t have to to take the trim pieces off again.

Is it not already fixed ?

See post #28 above this. There are still problems apparently.

Has anyone who has removed the front trunk divider tried putting various sized children in the front trunk to see what the maximum sized child is that will fit in the front trunk and still allow it to close? ???
