Basically just like the title says. I just got around to activating my fordpass charging network account, and of course it mentions getting 250kw free. But EA charges by the minute in my state, and all the states around me. Just curious if anyone knows how that will work.

I don't know for sure, but EA still knows how much power it sold you so I'd expect it still counts until it gets to 250 kW, then starts charging from that point in time.

Credits work just fine in per-minute states. They're not selling you anything, they're giving electricity away as a gift until you've used 250 kWh worth, then they vend per-minute after that.

I noticed in the app it says after that 250kw is used, you can purchase more "packages" of charging. Have you seen that after your free time is up? I've been kind of frustrated paying by the minute when the vehicle is charging slow that adds up really quick.

I haven't figured out how to buy packages of charging credits either.

Michigan is a per-kWh state, happily, so I haven't done any per-minute charging lately. I definitely understand where that's frustrating, especially given EA's pricing tiers. One more reason to hope battery preconditioning comes ASAP.

I got caught off guard because I wasn't paying attention at EVgo which charges by the minute. I would have been fine if I had stopped at 80%, but wanted to add a little bit more. Ended up costing me a little extra. EA should be keeping track of your kw regardless of the time.

It does keep track of kw delivered, but in Oklahoma its apparently illegal to "Resell" electric, so they have to charge by the minute.

Although I found a chargepoint DCFC Saturday that had time of day pricing, and I got there at a time it was charging $0.09/kwh. I added 40% to the car for $3.00. I would love to be paying per kw.
