I am being told by a fellow worker of mine who owns a Tesla that the DC fast charging stations doesn't charge the car up from 10%-80% in about 40minutes, it's more like 4 hours. Only the Tesla Supercharger network will charge that fast. Is this true.

There is no DC charging speed at which it would take 4 hours to charge a Mach-E. Even a 25 kW DCFC in a Chevy dealer's service bay (the slowest "DCFC" on sale in NA would be under 4 hours).

He's wrong, totally wrong.

The fastest I have personally seen in the real world is 36% added in 23 minutes, but plugging in at a lower % would have sped that up.

Ive seen how fast the Tesla superchargers are and they are significantly faster. That's what makes them so unique, not the cars. Also we have the DC fast charger here at work and it is slow as molasses, well, like I said about a full charge takes 4 hours.

Well not really. I'm going to dispute that second sentence.

Most - the vast majority - of Tesla Superchargers in North America are "V2" which is 120 or 150 kW.

Mach-E can charge at 150 kW, most new highway chargers being built are 125 or 150 (or more!) kW.

Sure, a Tesla on a "V3" Supercharger can take more than 150, but those are still few and far between for most people. People who buy a Tesla will be mostly using V2s for years to come.

He is wrong. Get him to place a bet with you. 10-80% can be done in about 40 minutes.

He's been spending too much time on the "why the model Y is way better than the MME" on the Tesla forums.

Seems like Tesla owners think the supercharger is like some nuclear energy center at every location?

Well it is called a Supercharger not a fast charger so it has to be faster, right?

I charged 4 times at EA superchargers on my way between Denver and Wichita and each time I went from around 30% back to 80% in about 30mins. I did have to spend on the phone with EA manually initiating each charge, but that’s a different story. The DCFC is plenty fast and it will be even better when Ford gets Plug & Charge working reliably.
