Ahh, so you speak from absolutely no personal experience but yet we should take you as an expert it is a complete disaster? Got it.
Multiple reviewers (who are experienced with EVs) have said they have had issues charging the Mach E. There are a bunch of people on this forum who have not been able to charge their cars at home, in locations where other EVs have charged - this has been reported to Ford and they have done nothing for over a month. If you can not see the problems with that, then you are obviously drunk on the kool aid.

What so many of you just don’t get: even if the public charging works 75% of the time (and that’s probably being charitable), that means it doesn’t work 25% of the time. Which means the public charging is completely unpredictable. And unpredictable public charging IS A DISASTER.

When you need to charge, you need to charge. I’ve detailed my charging woes in the Sonic thread. It’s a fat sloppy mess.

I'm not sure that's entirely fair, Doctor. Just because someone hasn't personally encountered the issue, regardless of their ownership status, doesn't mean they can't have an informed opinion.

We seem to have a fair amount of evidence now that Plug and Charge is at best inconsistent across the fleet. @OutofSpecKyle, @Mach-E VLOG and EV & Chill YouTubers have shared their experiences and frustrations with P&C which matches the experiences of other members of this forum.

I think the return trip, next week’s Out of Spec Motoring video, will be a bit more favorable to the Mustang.

1 - Almost every session without plug and charge has been great
2 - Great means it charges... it doesn’t mean it charges well (charging curve / random slow charging)
3 - P&C should have worked out of the gate as EA and Ford both certify this vehicle to be compatible. It’s incredibly frustrating that this isn’t the case.

We are past the early stages of EV charging, this stuff needs to be perfect if EVs are ever going to sell in any meaningful numbers.

@kyle. What are your thoughts on the Mach e vs Etron. I am somewhat torn between the 2. The pricing with incentives is much closer than it would appear at the surface.

Yep, it's not like there was a pandemic that turned the world upside down and shut down offices and travel for a year. I am still working from home and everything is much less efficient.
Or that this is the first long range Ford EV. As I recall, Model 3, which is not the first model of Tesla, also had a fair share of chaging woes in its early days.

Buying a first year model is always a bit of risk. But it looks like people are getting the charge at EA, which is the important point, Whether some specific 'promised' app works seems like a minor secondary issue, perhaps more of an academic matter.

If the forum has a poll option, it will great to see some real stats from people using fast charging.

For many people, fast charging is a non-issue. I have driven over 70k miles without any fast chatrging in a 80-mile EV. So this is really not such a big deal for most who are'not frequent road trippers.

That was painful to watch. Yes, he probably should start using EA app instead of P&C after 5 or so fails, but still - it's again - another software problem seems like with P&C. And inconsistency of this P&C thing kills - some people saying it works but most what I hear is an advice to use native EA app. Yes, nothing is 100% but I remember big bosses are comparing MME with Tesla all the time - and in this case I would just try to be quiet :(

P&C is more of a novelty, until Ford and EA figure out how to incorporate Pass+ membership into it. Once you've used up your 250KWh (500KWh for some of us), the convenience of P&C isn't worth the extra cost.

you don´t want that with kids on a roadtrip.

Here´s the thing: tesla had no competition and plenty of time to work on bugs and improve the charging infrastructure, Ford has plenty of competition; no automaker can afford to make big mistakes nowadays.
And the selection of EVs is getting bigger and bigger...

I stand by my choice and look forward to my Mustang.
( if it is ever built :( )

It's clear several of you including at least one of you that doesn't even have a car yet have decided that your cars are complete failures because Plug & Charge doesn't work. Not sure why people in that situation are even getting the car since it's just a "disaster".

it's also clear that some of you have decided that a small number of people all sharing a specific power company in a specific location with out of compliance electricity level not being able to use a specific category of charger means the whole thing fails for everyone everywhere. not sure how that tracks since plenty of people are charging just fine at home but I guess we're all imagining that.

also "disaster"? really? get over yourselves. literally nobody is dying. people are at worst being inconvenienced. "Disaster" indeed. ?

I'll withhold my comments until after I take my first MME roadtrip (hoping to get mine in the next couple of weeks). I'll be looking at a 1,100-mile round trip from Michigan to northern Wisconsin, pushing the geographic extents of the current DCFC network (and going more than 100 miles beyond the reach of any known DCFC stations). If that roadtrip goes well, I'll be very satisfied. If not, I'll be stranded in northern Wisconsin and may never return...

The big problem is not that these things happened, but that Ford has not fixed them.

You say that the charging issue is affecting people with "out of compliance electricity" - the utility in some of these cases has determined the power is in spec, other EVs charge at these homes and presumably other electrical devices work fine as well. Electric power is dynamic - voltage fluctuations and different sources of harmonic noise can occur anywhere. If the vehicle is too sensitive to these fluctuations, relative to other electrical devices, than these charging issues could occur anywhere. Also you insinuate that people should be fine charging on 120v - this is simply not a practical solution.

The same people who are constantly commenting on poor fit and finish on other EVs, fail to recognize that poor consistency and reliability of charging is a bigger problem than a few misaligned panels.
