Is anyone had any issues with rear hatch foot activation. I have a premium model. The foot activation just does not work. I have verified that it is turned on in setting. No matter where I wave my foot will not open. It will open with button and closes with the close button. Any ideas before I have to take back to dealer that is 90 miles away?

I've yet to learn exactly where to wave my foot but it always works. You're the first person I recall hearing couldn't get it to work at all.

I’ve found a broad sweep right to left works well. Swiping back and forth proved problematic.

I was washing the car with the fob in my pocket yesterday, and the trunk went up when I was drying the bottom edge of the bumper. Seems like anywhere under the bumper below the plate should work (assuming it is working properly).

I've found it works best when the car is unlocked first.

If the car is locked (even though it does greet me with turning on the lights and puddle lamps) and I walk up and do the broad sweep of the foot under the car almost touching the back up light. The hatch won't open. If I unlock the car first and then sweep my foot it opens every time.

Works every time for me! I push foot under, then withdraw rapidly. Same as on my old Escape.

Broad sweep from right to left then step back a bit, works every time. Admittedly I always get nervous in public of looking stupid if it fails but so far it hasn't! ?

First, I would go to a dealer a lot closer than 90 miles. Doesn't need to be the dealer you purchased from.

As others have said, mine works perfect by sticking my foot under the bumper and pulling back out, right in the middle. Has worked every single time. Car locked, unlocked, off or running, people in it or not, while charging, etc. I have always had the fob on me, though. Maybe that is the trick?

Just to verify, you have the fob/Paak on you when you are doing this? The manual specifies an in-out kick motion, not a sweep/wave. Though it appears some are having luck with that as well. Seems like directly under the plate should be the sweet spot.

Foot straight in then out right under license plate.;)
^^This is also how the owners manual says to do it. I think it actually says NOT to wave your foot around.

In and then out. Has worked perfectly for me ever since I started doing it that way....

You put your left foot in and shake it all about.
Usually works every time for me. Taught my wife to push the button.

Mine works about 85% of the time. Just a kick and pull back motion under the license plate. Not sure why it's not 100%. Nowadays I just skip the foot motion and just push the button unless my hands are full .

I have the fob with me at all times but also have PaaK set up on my phone (also with me at all times)

It works fine for me. I usually use my right foot so I’m a bit to the right of the license plate. The gesture is literally a kick motion. There is no waving your foot around or anything. Just a straight kick under the bumper.
