well, I can't see into the garage when I'm in the house, so I don't know what's going on in there. ?
I have an attached 3 garage and when I am working on the side farthest from the car (12 - 15 feet away) it never seems to unlock or have the lights come on. However, when I walk by it to go back into the house, it unlocks and the lights come on. Perhaps when the garage is below, the car thinks you are walking around it.

I'm (hopefully) going to have my car soon and my garage is attached to the house, too. So you're saying if I use PaaK that the car will constantly be turning on its lights and folding out the mirrors and whatnot if I'm in range?
This is not the case. My garage is below my bedroom too and I did pretty extensive testing to make sure someone can’t take my car when I’m in my room. Particularly when it’s parked outside but still below my bedroom. When I get closer In range from being far away, the lights briefly come on. After a few seconds it goes off after it realizes I’m not right next to the car. If I stay in the room the car remains locked with the lights off. To be clear, the mirrors do not unfold on approach. They do so after you hit the button on the door if you are in range for it to unlock . When I’m in my room, If you hit the open button , it makes sounds but won’t unlock because I’m not close enough. Similarly, if I’m working in my garage near the car, in the beginning it lights up but then stops doing it. If I walk far away then come back, the approach lights come on

Doesn't your phone connect to teh car non stop when walking around the house?
No, I have an attached garage and it only activates after I walk into the garage.
Works much better, btw, if I take it out of my pocket.

What about phone battery drain?
I always have bluetooth on anyway.
Agreed with Waldo. My Bluetooth is on all the time too and turning it off or on has negligible effect on total phone battery life. Especially since PAAK uses Bluetooth Low Energy. Similar power profile to smart watches

This. PAAK using BLE is why you have to be close to the car

Makes it better for security, but sometimes inconvenient while it connects. BLE normally pings on normal bluetooth to establish range, then looks for the low energy to see if it's close enough to unlock. I'm lucky to say mine was about 90% effective at working properly. I had dealer do the SSM and I'd say in the last day or two , 95%

You’re right. That’s why you can have the car in the garage to interact with it, but not trip the approach functions unless you’re really close to it.
