My god. It even notifies me when I’ve been sitting in the car and open the door to get out. This is the stupidest piece of busy work I’ve ever seen.
So just turn it off! At least they give you that choice.

Also, this likely isn't coming from the MachE team. I think this is more of a fordpass feature that is made by that team. And this is just the first car they are adding support to.

Is this actually a useful feature? So my phone is going to buzz every time I open the door?
It also buzzes when you open the hatch. So a simple trip to the grocery store generates 6 buzzes.

I have the option to turn it on. Got the OTA 1.4.0 the other day and updated the FordPass app today. However, I completely agree that this is not an overly useful feature for me. My wife and I both use the car and she takes it to work over night on an irregular schedule. Additionally, I definitely don’t want notifications each time someone (me or her) opens the door! I only want it when the alarm goes off.
I could see if you are the only driver and you park you car in a garage/public place. Someone swipes your keys and gets in… but how realistic is this situation? I guess I am glad that I have the ability to turn it off. The aforementioned situation is the only one I see useful for this feature. Which really doesn’t pertain to any of my situations.

Hopefully at some point they'll update it to not alert if the fob is detected as well.
Hopefully, at some point Ford stops screwing around and starts adding features that owners want. Or (dare we hope) bug fixes.

I’m much, much, much more annoyed at the utterly frivolous waste of resources on such an utterly useless “enhancement” when Ford could have given us any one of a dozen useful software enhancements, or at least fixed some bugs.

Like I said earlier. This likely didn't come from the MachE team. This is likely something the fordpass team has been working on and they just asked to have this enabled in an OTA whenever they pushed one out next. The update to the car was just to the telematics unit and probably just added the extra info that it reports back to the cloud.

So don't assume because things like this are being added doesn't mean that they aren't working on the important updates we're waiting on.

If only they included button to select if you want it on or off! Oh? They did? I wouldn't know, didn't t work for me yet.

I think this would be useful if it could be mapped with things like geo location or IFTTT.

Just like I can tell my backyard camera to not notify me if my phone is at home, it would be nice to have this turn off automatically if it's parked in the garage. As the schedule function is there, it wouldn't be unrealistic to have other triggers.

Think of this as 1.0 of this feature. Submit those ideas to Ford. They've been pretty vocal that they are open to feedback and will be working on improving everything they can.

It’s certainly not as robust as it could be if it differentiated between door openings shortly after detecting your phone or fob.

But like have you seriously not seen how people steal cars now? It’s not coat hangers and hot wiring the ignition anymore. This ain’t 1990. Most of the time it’s replicating your rf signal. How are you proposing engineers differentiate between a replicated rf code and the real one?

I think you may have jumped the shark with “utterly frivolous.”

They did take one of my ideas in the past. I'll wait to submit feedback on this one until I can use it personally. I think this one has potential.

Anyone too young to have lived through Windows 3.2..... this is what it was like in every office and den on the planet.

Only back then, it was for something important, like getting payroll done on Friday.

I'm still waiting on the 1.40 Ford Power Up. The install attempted a couple of times last week but failed each time. No attempts for the install since last Friday. I have checked the in car screen and it says my software is up to date, but it is not at 1.40 still 1.37 I believe.
Have you brought your car into a Ford dealer to perform that FSA 21B36 update? The technician will also make sure that everything else in the car is update. At least that is what a dealer rep, and that leaked document detailing the update procedure is saying. According to my dealer the whole update process can take up to 3 or 4 hours to complete. So you will have to drop your Mach-E off, and it may take the rest of that day or some of the next depending on any issues that may happen.

It sounds like Ford is using this FSA issue to get Mach-E owners to bring in there cars to ensure they are on the latest baseline of software updates. Especially for the Mach-Es that were built in the early part of this year. Porche has done something similar to with the Taycan. These will ensure a more stabilized platform that should enable deeper more extensive updates, like the one for BlueCruise, to be deployed with the lowest amount of issues. Basically Ford wants to have all the Mach-Es in the wild to come into the same or similar baseline of software versions as there test vehicles. That way they can predictively deploy more substantive OTA updates that will install without bricking a large amount of cars.

If someone compiled a top 100 list of features that owners (not just MME, all owners) want, this one would have been at number 10,000 (if that high). So it doesn't matter which team came out with it. It's still useless.

I'm assuming nothing. I have no special insight into what Ford engineers are doing or planning. This has got to be stupidest feature update to lead of with.

I'm just happy that Ford is keeping their word on the one thing they actually did say. They will be updating this car and making it better all the time.

I've owned many Ford vehicles over the years. And this car, in 6 months of ownership, has already gotten more updates than any of the others I've had. And I've not even had to take it to a dealer for a single one of them.

Have the updates or features been amazing? Nope. But they are happening. Is it frustrating that they haven't fixed some things? Absolutely. But I also don't think they've delayed any of those fixes just to get us SecuriAlert. Things are ready when they are ready.
