I like it but agree its more for the back seat people while driving its directly above you so you don't see it. But its keeps the interior feeling very open. Good sun block as well so you don't feel the heat. I would rather have it then a reg roof.

All I can think of is people in really hot climates don't care for it due to lack of shade?
Exactly!!! I have been driving cars with pano roofs since 2009. This is the first car which I can say that it’s extremly annoying.

I am bald and I live in the deserts of NM… you get the picture. Every car I have owned, Pano roof closed during the day and open that beauty up at night or on a rare cloudy day with a touch of a button. There are several head scratching design/engineering decisions and this is one of them.

I live in San Diego and have been driving my first edition for 6 months and I love the pano sunroof! It’s been very sunny the vast majority of the time I’ve driven it and haven’t felt warm or uncomfortable from the sunroof at all. The only difference I notice is that it’s brighter in the car, obviously, but I never feel as if sun is shining on me.

So why all the hate on the pano roof?
It's not hate. At least not enough hate to pass on the car, I just don't like it. It's not functional and is just another thing to crack and then you have to wait months to get it replaced.

We don't hate it, but for the driver and front passenger, it has little benefit.

Pano sunroofs, i.e. the ones that move, I would never get on any vehicle. They leak, they make noise, and then they break (i.e. tracks, motors). I would never pay for one, and I will never buy a vehicle with a moving one unless I decide to switch to changing vehicles while they're still in warranty.
^ this. Plus, I'd rather have insulation so that the HVAC doesn't have to work as hard.

I love it! We have one in my wife's Cmax... it's a 2015 and has never been a problem. No excess heat issues and provides a wow factor for passengers. I also enjoy not having to detail a giant painted roof, glass is pretty straight forward cleaning.?

Without the pano roof I probably wouldn't have bought this car. I have mild claustrophobia and need the glass to feel comfortable. Also, it needed to be an SUV. A sedan or coupe with a closed in trunk would bother me.

If you like sunlight on your head while driving, you should go for it. I prefer shade inside a car. People say the heat from the glass roof is not bad, so for me the sunlight would be the big annoyance.
This may be true for some vehicles, but as others have mentioned, you can't tell it's there when driving a MME.
I don't like mine because of the two cracks in it that won't go away until my dealer gets in the backordered replacement - 6 weeks and counting....

Glass roofs offer more headroom and a brighter interior.
In the MME it does, in 95% of the other cases, a moon / sun roof will chop up to 2" of headspace from the driver's seat. In today's vehicles, almost everything past a base trim has one. I'm not super tall but I'm long and I hate them with a passion.

So I'm looking at the MME and one thing that intrigues me is the glass roof. I had an 83 Camaro that had T-Tops. Loved it. I had a Cavalier with a sunroof - that puppy was never closed. So why all the hate on the pano roof? Is there something I'm missing? Anything that gives me a "top down" feeling gets me excited. All I can think of is people in really hot climates don't care for it due to lack of shade? In Michigan, I try to soak up as much sun as I can! :D Any thoughts? Is the pano roof something I'd like or would I regret it?
I live in a warm to hot climate on Tybee Island, GA. Frankly I don’t even think about it. It’s nice for the passengers but I’m looking at the road. I have the temp set to 73°, one bar on auto and am comfortable. I just don’t think heat in the interior is an issue.

Sold my Wife’s 2014 Cmax with the Pano Roof but had no issues with it over a 7 year period! It had a power sunshade but we left it open most of the time!

I feel like most of the "hate" or "concern" comes from people that make assumptions about it before actually taking delivery, or before actually ever riding in the vehicle.

In all honesty I completely forget I have a panoramic roof sometimes until I actually look up. My kids are also super picky whiny complainers about every little thing on road trips, and not once have they ever complained about sun in their eyes, or any actual perceived heat from "baking under the sun", and believe me they let me know when I roll back the shade on my Sorento lol!

I feel absolutely no heat on my head sitting in direct sunlight, so really I can only assume those complaining have never actually been in the vehicle and are just making assumptions. ?‍♂

The main reason why I ordered one is I'm a big guy. I sat in a Premium during the tour and felt like I fit in the car just fine. I test drove a Select when the dealers had the demo models and I felt cramped because there was no pano roof. I ordered my GTPE with one for the headroom
