@dliunatic Glad to hear he's back! Please keep us updated with how things continue to go.

I think my service team underestimated the speed of the installation process. Said I would likely have the car Tuesday, but received a call yesterday that it will be several more days. They said it was a "slow process." Idont care how long it takes, just want all the kinks worked out.

I stalled out only 3 miles from the dealership. Sounds like they need to have extra batteries on hand because I will be the fourth MME to have this same issue just in Frisco.
*gulp*

Sorry, it just doesn't add up. An ICE auto mechanic working on electronic precision equipment? Have you seen the mechanic's at an auto dealership? I don't know I would be on pins and needles. Yes, before you guys bombard me I know the vehicles now days are all computerized. But BEV's are way beyond that, I've worked in an industrial environment we are talking 100's to 1000's of HP and 1000's of volts. Electrical motors are a profession in its self, let alone adding it to a vehicle. These guys need a whole lot more training then they are getting and I know dealerships will have the least amount of staff trained! I for one have applied to Weber College in Ogden, UT to take some training in electric vehicles just to get to know the vehicle a whole lot better. Professor Kelly (YouTube Channel,WeberAuto) of Weber College gives a course in 3 parts, first 2 online and the last is 5 Days in Utah in the shop with hands on training. I'm excited about it and will have a certificate that will allow me to take a test to be certified at least to work on an electric vehicle. Hope it helps, I hate being in the dark and having to reply on a Ford Dealership to understand the issues of this car!

Module was CRACKED? Interesting, I bet the bad cell swelled up.
Thanks for the additional detail behind the cryptic notes :) Yea, apparently the MME that was in the shop before mine also had a similar module swell and crack.

Ugh, definitely understand how that goes. Hope you get yours soon! Even from getting the battery to getting it all installed, it essentially took about a 1.5 weeks for mine.

Yep, at AutoNation it sounded like it was the lead mechanic that was taking on the MME repairs as I guess they were probably the ones more trained on the MME.

On the one hand, there but for the grace of god go I, but on the other, I appreciate you for taking one for the team so the AutoNation mechanic has some experience with this before my MME eventually suffers the same fate, which I've already resigned myself to.

Went to start up this morning in my driveway, "STOP SAFELY NOW."

Had a charging error notification on FordPass pop up, too.

Guess I'll be getting her towed to Autonation Ford Frisco tomorrow.

It's troubling when someone accurately predicts their own issue based on what they see happening for others. THAT'S when you know there's a real problem here that's going to become something. Better get ahead of it @Ford Motor Company
I also think this will only continue to grow. I had it happen to me yesterday.

Oh man... Hate to hear that you predicted it. Really curious what's the common factor for those of us in North Texas facing this issue. Hopefully AutoNation will just have a stockpile of these if it's going to be that common. Let us know what you find out!

I won't lie, this thread makes me nervous. Although I'm in the Midwest and haven't seen the insane temps many of you have. Still...

Do you all have similar build dates?

They are definitely different than an ICE when it comes to voltage and the motor. However, how much different are they from a hybrid that combines an ICE and a high voltage battery? I would think that's more complicated than a straight BEV.

Also, aside from the drivetrain and power source, are they that much different? Don't all vehicles from 2001 up use a CAN bus system? From what I can tell, many of the techs seem to have a problem with that system because they go with what they know rather than following best practices, which can create issues throughout the CAN system. I see many talking about just disconnecting the negative 12V battery terminal for 10 minutes and reconnecting it, but in my research, I have read that this can create communications issues in the CAN system since some modules go to sleep and need to be awoken using a specific process.

We can all sign up to take Ford Motorcraft's BEV training course and know more than the techs ?. It's only $89.
