You might check with them about lowering the priority code to 10 - I asked about that and my dealer said they put in all special orders as a 10.I also ordered on 10/1 - Premium ER AWD in Grabber Blue. Ford took my $ 500 deposit within a day, but it took 18 days for my dealership to "submit" the official order (priority code 19 - the default for special order). Originally, I had a 2021 CARt 1 Iconic Silver ordered on 4/23 with a build date of 10/5. Still waiting on the delivery to the dealer (11/12 estimated), but I've already let them know I won't be taking it. I am hoping I won't have to wait until April 2022 to get it, but based on what I read here - 6 months may not be out of the question.
Interesting indeed. My salesperson said they were all at 19 and that only the owner was able to get a lower one. Oh well, I figure the more time the better anyway to work out any new kinksYou might check with them about lowering the priority code to 10 - I asked about that and my dealer said they put in all special orders as a 10.
Thanks, I may do that in January or February if I haven't gotten a build date. Spring is pleasantly warm here in Memphis and would meet my needs. You might check with them about lowering the priority code to 10 - I asked about that and my dealer said they put in all special orders as a 10.
Which dealer did you order through in Memphis? I ordered with Homer Skelton in Millington! Thanks, I may do that in January or February if I haven't gotten a build date. Spring is pleasantly warm here in Memphis and would meet my needs.![]()
Yes. Based on two or three reports here, people who ordered the CA Route 1 trim seem to be getting scheduled very quickly. Extended range AWD Premium seems to be the most popular variant (I think that's in the forum data, based on what people report here) and perhaps as a result there's the greatest wait for them. Someone explained a bit about how the production lines work and it was pretty interesting, gives a bit more insight into why that's the way it is.Also, does anyone think the configurations have anything to do with production dates? I see a lot of Premium eAWD getting scheduled and RWD nothing. Or maybe I'm just looking into it too much?
I got an order confirmation email from Ford but it does not have an order number. Is this "your order has been confirmed" email not the step 3 in your list?Based on the posts here, there is a key step in the process most are missing: Ford acceptance of the order. Here are the steps in the order process:
1. Place order *request* using the Ford on-line system. This is only an order request, and not an order. You should get an email from Ford immediately after placing the request that includes the request date and an order number. This order number is not the actual Ford order number. So confusing, and I was confused when I did it also. That is really just the order request number.
2. The dealer must accept your request and enter your order into the Ford order system. I had to go to my dealer to do this step, but I guess some dealers may be willing to do it remotely. The dealer should ask for a $500 deposit. (@dbonsett your $1500 deposit seems WAY out of line - I would have a discussion with your dealer about that.)
3. This next step seems to be the one most people are missing: Ford must accept the order entered by the dealer before your car is available for scheduling. When Ford accepts your order, they will assign an order number and you will get an email from Ford that says something like "Order placed. Thrills ahead." This email will have a different order number, but I am not sure if that is the order number you can use to check the status of your car or not. Maybe another forum member can confirm that. I think it is. The Ford order number is a four digit number. The request number is more than four digits. That is how you can tell the difference. BTW - I ordered my MME on 5/15 and Ford did not accept my order until 9/21. This is not the dealer's fault, this is Ford deciding which orders to accept and when. Nobody in this forum knows how Ford allocates orders to dealers, but my dealer told me Ford prioritizes ZEV states. I expect large dealers in large cities get priority also. Very frustrating for me in a non ZEV state and a small dealer. (I got tired of waiting and found an abandoned GT order in NJ, which just happens to be a ZEV state.)
4. After Ford accepts your order, it is in the queue for production scheduling. When your car is scheduled for production, you will get another email from Ford. Several weeks before production, Ford assigns a VIN number and then you can use all the tracking methods explained in this forum. (At the right points in time - that is important.)
For those of you who have not signed an order form that clearly specifies the price you will pay, you should go to your dealer and do that immediately. You want to have a signed agreement with them that specifies the price you are going to pay. Many members have posted in this forum about dealers who have tried to add ADM on top of the MSRP. I assume most of you don't want to pay more than MSRP, so get it in writing from your dealer. If they don't want to do that, I think you should find another dealer. It sounds very shady to me.
Good luck with all your orders! My Premium that I "requested" on May 15 is scheduled for production November 22. I hope yours goes much faster than that one. I got impatient and found a GT in NJ, and hopefully that will be delivered in the next couple weeks or so. Who knows, because nothing is transparent in this process. The email from Ford should say "Order placed. Frustrations ahead."
My email from Ford stated "Your Order Has Been Confirmed" but I did not get an order number in the email (I placed my order at my dealer due to the website clusterF). However, I called my dealer, and they gave me my 4-digit order number and priority code (19).I got an order confirmation email from Ford but it does not have an order number. Your signature says "Order confirmed 6/3" was that when you got the order confirmation email from ford or when the dealer confirmed the order?
I didn't place the original order for the GT. In September, just before I got the email below, I was so frustrated I started searching Autotrader and found a GT at a dealer in NJ that someone else ordered but it was available for me to claim. So I don't know what was provided on 6/3, but probably something similar to the email below.I got an order confirmation email from Ford but it does not have an order number. I believe that means Ford has accepted your order and it is in the queue to be scheduled for production. The four digit number is the number Ford assigns, and the number that will be printed on the window sticker. My email from Ford stated "Your Order Has Been Confirmed" but I did not get an order number in the email (I placed my order at my dealer due to the website clusterF). This looks like a good summary but I think the deposit part of this has evolved over the past several months. Those of us who used the Ford.com site recently to reserve a Mach E had to provide the dealer's name and a deposit ($500 in my case) during that online process. It looks from my credit card bill that this went to the dealer.2. The dealer must accept your request and enter your order into the Ford order system.
