If your laptop supports USB C charging yes it is possible. I regular work remotely from my car and charge with a USB C to USB C cable and it charges at full power. Is this possible?

Wow, this is cool! I have a MacBook Pro. Should try this out.If your laptop supports USB C charging yes it is possible. I regular work remotely from my car and charge with a USB C to USB C cable and it charges at full power.
It will not charge the battery in your MacBook Pro. However, the laptop will run off the car power when it is plugged into the USB-C port.Wow, this is cool! I have a MacBook Pro. Should try this out.
So now we could have 12 volt battery through inverter to 120 volt to laptop power supply back to maybe 12 volts for the laptop.Buy an inverter to convert 12 volt to whatever your laptop uses in the UK.
FIFY ?So now we could have 400 volt battery maintaining a 12 volt battery through inverter to 120 volt to laptop power supply back to maybe 12 volts for the laptop.
No, the car's USB port only supplies 5 volts. Laptops and other higher power devices need a port that is USB-PD capable (which means supplying a voltage of 9 volts and above, in practice). Not to resurrect a dead thread, but can you use the normal USB-C port to simply power and use the MacBook? Not necessarily to recharge the battery, but to use a (mostly) charged MacBook without draining it? And would that mess with the car and/or the laptop in any way?
Any moment now @markboris will be posting a thread labeled labeled “How to add a 110V outlet to your center console.”Now it puzzles me Ford didn’t put a single 120v outlet in the MME… would have been great.
But like @markboris, the USB-C outlet is nowhere near enough to charge a MacBook Pro.
I’d recommend this 12v adapter with your OE MacBook Pro cable to use and charge in the car.

Wow Rod, you know me pretty well. Actually I have no need to install a 110V outlet in the car. I never even used them in the Escape, F-150 and other vehicles I've had so won't be posting that tread. ?Any moment now @markboris will be posting a thread labeled labeled “How to add a 110V outlet to your center console.”
At least that’s my prediction.
Hey Ed, It all depends on your model laptop. Some laptops you can and some you cannot. I am assuming the laptop that kltye has, you can't.Not to resurrect a dead thread, but can you use the normal USB-C port to simply power and use the MacBook? Not necessarily to recharge the battery, but to use a (mostly) charged MacBook without draining it? And would that mess with the car and/or the laptop in any way?
Oh my bad - I assumed it didn't have a PD-capable port. I'll have to check it out!I have a 2019 16" MacBook Pro. I can use the USB-C port in the car to power my laptop. It supplies 15 watts and as long as I keep the display brightness no more than 50% and not editing photos/videos, gaming, etc., the battery will not deplete. I can also charge this laptop using the car's USB-C port but only when the laptop lid is closed (sleeping or off). It takes about 4 hours to completely charge the battery if I start around a 10% battery level. Now, if you have a 13" MacBook Air or one of the newer Apple laptops with their M1 chip, it will charge the laptop while you are using it. However, it will again depend on how heavy you are using it.
It will slowly charge a MacBook Pro when the computer is turned off.Now it puzzles me Ford didn’t put a single 120v outlet in the MME… would have been great.
