PSE&G here in NJ is supposedly starting a BEV program, but the incentives for solar in NJ are tremendous so I got solar this year. My panels went live in July so I missed some of the sunniest days, but so far I am ahead of the game. We have net metering with reconciliation once a year, but as of right now I have nice surplus going into the shorter months. A lot of that has to do with me driving my Mach E a lot less than I anticipated as I am still working from home 5 days a week - rather then the 300+ miles a week in commuting miles I would normally do.

Anyway, PSE&G has fees and tiered rates but the upshot is that the first 600 kwh are around $.18/kwh, going up to over $.19/kwh - thats actual cost after the service fees, delivery fees, etc.

My solar panels are costing me $.09/kwh after incentives; I wish I had done it sooner but I needed to wait until I got my car. The number of panels they let you connect can't significantly exceed your usage history without justification, so I was able to show a couple of months of higher than previous usage from my car to justify the additional panels to cover charging my Mach E post-pandemic.

I highly recommend anyone in NJ to get solar panels; the incentives (energy credits) cover about half the cost.
I’m in CT and pay $.174 per kWh for my solar which has 24 LG panels. Mine is a 8400 kWh system. Did you get less panels or was I ripped off? CT has high electric rates, about $.27 per kWh delivered.

In Minnesota there are a few deals

Standard = $.14 per KWH

TOD / 2nd Meter $6.95 / Month and $.04 per KWH off peak 9pm-8am

Reduced rate requires a specific EVSE plan Off Peak 9pm-6am $.029 per KWH $.075 mid-peak $.19 peak. Wish I could get this one but you can't have solar and this

Coast of Washington: we pay a flat rate of $.0634/KWh (Public Utility District) and power is from them via the Bonneville Power Adminstration which runs the Bonneville Dam on the Columbia River. My 2,000 miles a month costs about $30.

Geez, you all have some incredibly cheap power ?

Here there's a discounted plan if you have an EV, but it's still $0.19 off-peak (9pm - 4pm) and $0.48 peak (4pm-8pm) during the week, $0.37 peak on the weekends, along with a fixed daily basic charge equivalent to approximately $12 per month.

Had my electric company install a meter and signed up for off peak (10pm - 6am) charging. $0.058 per kwh. I have standard range so $4 to "fill up". Peak charging (5pm - 10pm) is about $0.25. all other times are about $0.09 kwh.

I bought a 16.4 kw system with REC alpha panels and enphase iq7+ microinverters. My house faces east-south-east so I had to go with a few extra panels to compensate for poor afternoon light. I financed the panels for 15 years because that is how long New Jersey's "residual energy credit" program works; basically every megawatthour I generate for 15 years earns me $85. By the time the energy credits stop the panels are paid off.

Cost of whole system with installation: $58,000
Cost after federal rebate: $42,920
Financed for 15 years, annual cost: $3240
Projected yield per year: 19 to 20 mwh
Residual energy credits for 19mwh/year: $1615
Net annual cost after energy credits: $1625
Cost for 19,000 kwh per year: $.0855, rounded up to $.09

Here in GA, flat rate is 5.7 cents per kwh. GA power has a ev plan but for the amount of driving I do flat rate is best. When I add in all the taxes and fees it averages to about 13 cents a kwh.

I've averaged 4.4 m/kwh the six months I've owned it, so I'm paying next to nothing to drive.

A lot of people are only including the marginal cost of the electricity, which isn't accurate. My bill has 1/2 dozen lines that are per kWh based. Only the monthly fee is fixed. My electricity is less than 2 cents off peak, but with all the other lines is 12 cents off peak.

Ford Mustang Mach-E What are your Electric Rates comed

as long as I charge after 10PM, it's cheap.

i have a home battery, so we run off the battery from about 8AM until 10PM.

"delivery" is around 4-5cents per kWh.

We'll be here for at least another 10 years, but at that point it won't matter. When we sell the place we'll add a little extra to the price to pay off the balance on the panels and advertise the fact that the new buyer will not only have $0 electric bill but PSE&G will be paying THEM until 2036.

easiest way to figure that, take an average months electrical bill, divide by kwh and will give you a good ballpark estimate of actual cost. as I mentioned my flat rate is 5.7 cents but when you calculate the fees/taxes it's around 13 cents.

it gets even more complicated if you have solar.... typically there is a 'service fee' you have no matter what... which ranges from $8/mo to $20/mo depending on the Utility you have.... then there can be 'Riders' that are a % of consumption whether you have solar or not... and THEN there is the actual consumption rate that Solar offsets depending on the exact terms of your Utility net metering agreement.

additionally many areas have peak/off-peak times where rates change.... but some are tiered with rates changing as you use more...

Depends on how you look at it. If the point is to see how much we're paying to charge an EV (instead of buying gas), and we assume we're gonna keep owning the home and having electric service either way, then the correct way is to just count the incremental kWh rate. (I suspect that's what most people mean for this context.)

But if you're trying to compare electric rates in total (including your TVs, lights, oven, A/C, etc), then yes, count the fixed charges as well.

Maine- Central Maine Power Company (Avangrid) 14.067 cents per kWh
Those of use with more solar than we need for daily household use will wind up paying in energy supplied to the grid on a net basis. That will work well for me (should Ford ever make my MME), although I'm not sure it will wind up at zero$.
