Edit: This has been an evolving thread as there have been issues with various updates and Ford has been adding/removing/changing them on the fly.

Note: This breaks lane centering and blue cruise as of now for later build cars if you run the ABS update. No one has been able to run the IPC update yet due to scan tool limitations to see if that will fix it.

Edit: Below was written on 12/17 and slightly edited over the next few days as more information became available

Looks like some new updates were released for various vehicles today. Note not sure exactly what vehicles these were released for. Peoples results are all over the place.

3 updates for newer build cars (Late June +)
2 updates were also released for older build cars

Pre June updates:
APIM - USB required update
IPC
ABS - Became available 12/21

Post June updates:
GWM - USB required update
TCU
IPC
ABS - Not available anymore as of 12/21

Note. Only the GWM and ABS update worked for me. TCU/IPC downloaded the software, then checked and did not update. The TCU/IPC stay in the list of requiring an update like the PCM but no update is installed when it is run.

Important: The APIM update likely brings the newer vehicles up to the same status as the later builds along with the IPC which makes both of those compatible together. I would not recommend updating one without updating the other!!

Also I recommend always doing a GWM update FIRST when available.

Possible PCM but that's been bugged so I doubt it. I will update shortly and report back. It appears they are getting these ready for OTA updates with the GWM and TCU updates. Not sure what the IPC update is about. No new TSBs/SSMs today.

The GWM update is likely the 2.1.0 OTA that hasn't been pushed yet. Unconfirmed though. TCU OTA update we are likely too see soon too. Also my guessing, this is all unconfirmed.

Interesting. I ran a few VINs and they all had updates but it is possible it isn't for everyone.

@breeves002 I’m in the UK and my car was fully updated as of yesterday apart from erroneous “ABS” that lingered.
Based on this post I checked FDRS and I am only getting offered APIM but slightly different. I get the normal APIM upgrade (USB) and another APIM which uses a special USB cable which I’ve used in the past. A male to male cable. I’m guessing this is for APIM recovery due to all the borked APIMs out there where FDRS does the upgrade direct cutting out the USB storage. ABS no longer listed either.

Ok this is weird. Went out to the car and after the network scan….car is fully up to date. The 2 x APIM I saw offline are no longer present after connected to car!!

ABS has definitely gone now. Not showing any updates available. How very odd.

didn’t see GWM or IPC (April 20 build)

Just checked again (Saturday, 12/18/21), still no new updates, but now my ABS is finally gone too! I guess it is not that surprising with so many dealers holding MME because of ABS related FDRS concerns. I think one dealer said something like, the ABS module update "wouldn't take", because ABS was not dropping off the list after the ABS module update. All they had to do was check in here and read @breeves002 posts!

This is so weird. I'm going to have to check mine again later and see what's up with it. Could be they released some bad updates yesterday. Luckily the car may not take them...

So I ran my VIN again. Still shows the bugged PCM update, shows TCU and IPC updates that won't work...but now there's an ABS update that wasn't there yesterday. What is going on???

The ABS update did work for me too. It tried to run PCM after doing ABS but nothing happened. Just configured it like it always tries to do. TCU and IPC still didn't work when I tried them again.

I hope the messy OTA mess doesn’t filter into a messy FDRS mess.

I was surprised when I saw the APIM with special cable update (I’ve used that in the past to update CE based SYNC) for the MME. It would make a lot of sense to forcefully update SYNC directly for those stuck in the weird OTA stuck business. Wish I’d taken some screenshots now, but as I say, after network test ran in the car, they were gone!

Yeah so the abs update broke Bluecruise and lane centering it seems….but no codes in anything. Just BC not available.

There was a second ABS update released yesterday. I ran that and BC is still broken. Going to try a 12v disconnect and reconnect to hopefully get it back. Otherwise it’s back to UCDS and the VBF loader to flash the old software back…

This morning, Sunday Dec. 19, 2021 I am now showing APIM, IPC updates (Dec. 20 FE).

Update: Okay, I gave it a try. All three updates still show in the car with Mongoose connected. (Nothing showed about USB drives or USB cables.). Almost nothing worked right.

The first APIM update seemed to go okay, very short, but does not drop from the SW Update list. I did not see any version information show during the update.

The second APIM update requires a separate Ford download and installation to the laptop which seemed to go okay. But, then nothing happened and FDRS said ignition off. A note said the update does not apply to me.

Finally, IPC cannot communicate through Mongoose for some reason, and as soon as the update begins, FDRS says ignition off, which terminates the update. Ignoring that instruction, and letting it run does nothing either, it just keeps trying to establish communications.

Is this an update that would show up when bringing your car in for the most recent CSP?

He has a GTPE, but FDRS is the same tool the Ford dealer's techs use. They may only do certain updates called for by a particular SSM or TSB. Otherwise, when the tech plugs in, these are the same screens they see.

Yeah I’m just concerned because the ABS module is listed under CSP 21P22 which I’m going in for in 2 weeks. I just don’t want a bad version getting pushed to the car.
