I wonder if the GT's will be tagged '22's. Might as well be by the time they likley hit early fall 21.
Nope. They'll probably be the last of the 2021s, though.

I certainly hope so Mark. I'd hate to think people are going to be waiting beyond "late summer" for non-GT's. They might not wait. :)

Although there will be people looking to buy year-around. Just like someone looking to buy a new car today. They'll still find mostly 2020's on the lots, and maybe even still for order (although we're right near the transition now).

I'm not 100% sure that they'll only be making GTs for summer. Normally I'd say no (they'd continue to make a mix), but with only 50,000 2021's, there's probably a good chance they will just finish the production run with GTs. The equation kinda changes when there's a limited number like that.

Gt's will be tagged 2021. The new model builds start after July shutdown each year. The best time to buy a car is always July and august. Yes, the model is at the end of that year but discounts are always the highest. Dealers get money from the manufacturer to get last year's inventory off the lot. So they can start shipping the new year's product.

Agree 100% -- unless they get extra batteries ...

Quite true -- unless there's no inventory.

What happens if Ford delivers the 2,000 + dealer demos to their lots in Nov. And they are an overwhelming success --- each dealer averages 5+ orders in a week or so, say well over 10,000 orders.

Now Ford has way more orders and previous Premium, Select & CA reservation holders (who were told they have until Dec 31 to convert to an order) to complete with the 2021 battery supply.

So who gets a vehicle and who wait until 2022 battery supply?

Hypothetically, they would start ramping up ADM until demand dropped to supply.

When demand for a vehicle is more than what was expected. The manufacturer will have meetings with all the parts suppliers first. Get a time table of when they can meet the new demand for parts.

It takes months. One shift 40 hours a week, turns in to 10 hour days 5 days a week plus 2 weekends a month. Then a second shift will be added. then longer days and so on. Then they will hire a c crew. A crew works Monday thru Thursday 11.5 hour days. B crew works Tuesday thru Friday 11.5 days. C crew works Friday day, Saturday day, Sunday night, Monday night. Overtime is Saturday B crew night and Sunday morning a crew. C crew does not have a chance for overtime.

There was only supposed to be one crew to build the Mache. When the orders went through the roof ford called the suppliers and started hiring for b crew back in April. If demand for the mache gets even higher. Then ford will start a C crew.

Ford can even put in more lines. more sub-assembly. The demand for the lincoln navigator was so high that ford decided they can gain 2 more JPH if the doors were taken off and the doors were trimmed and than put back on. Doing trim for the doors on the main trim line was very slow. So they made a whole sub-assembly line just to do the trim on the doors.

Robots that do the rivets and welds in the body shop are sit up by other companies. One ford signs off on it, then ford engineers and electrics go in and cut out the movement to save time. The steps the robots do might be 15 seconds and ford cuts it down to 13. When the navigator launched the JPH in the body shop was only 24 an hour. Now a perfect run, ford can make 35 an hour. Gains are being made all the time. Jobs moved, parts moved and things speed up.

I think the same order priority system is still being used even now (that we used for reservations). If they keep that going, I would think it would determine priority.

If they can get more batteries. From the beginning we were told that was the bottleneck. But that was 10 months ago. I've wondered if they've been able to figure out a way to get more since.

Batteries supply could be the main hinder. correct.

Unless there are a high number of these reservation holders waiting until into Dec. to convert.
Ford is not going to shut the line down and wait -- they could do the new firm NA orders or switch over and do the 30,000 Europe orders and make a long wait for the last of the NA orders.
