The Mach-E remains my first choice, but I’m not a fan of Ford’s inability to deliver it consistently!@oadesign the two your money. Buy the car that best suits your needs, budget and intangibles. If that’s the MME, great! It’s a great car! If it’s an Ionic 5, buy it. The dismissal and purging ceremonies from the Mach-e forums are swift, and somewhat painless.![]()
Holy crap. We just bought an Audi Q5 PHEV premium plus for 1500 under MSRP (about 58 and change) and it qualifies for the full $7500 tax credit. That much money for a Hyundai is just pure insanity. They are. Stopped in to Norm Reeves Hyundai today to eyeball a Santa Fe PHEV - ADM is almost $9k on top of ~$47k MSRP. Can only imagine the ADM on an ioniq 5 when they start landing.
As a fellow 10/11 build week gang member I’m hoping you hold out for the Mach E, but I understand your frustration. I can only imagine how painful the wait has been for you when almost everyone else has gotten there MME’s (me included). I can honestly say that I don’t have eyes for any other BEV’s, so choosing something else would have been nearly impossible. I hope you hang in there. We'll see if they will back off from their ADM—the sales rep said his GM would likely reach out to my Ford dealer's GM, since they're both owned by the same parent company.
It's worth a shot, and if my Mach-E somehow manages to arrive during the 1/3-1/9 ETA, I'll likely stick with it despite it being a 'year old,' as it is the exact color, interior, drivetrain I ordered. The Ionic will be a color compromise, both inside and out. But with the faster charging, ability to provide 120V power, and 2 years of free EA charging, the compromises would be worth it. The price is also a bit lower.
Thanks for the encouragement! I’m definitely leaning toward the MME, as my ETA was moved up a week. I don’t know whether or not to take it seriously, but at least there seems to be a remote possibility that I may get it before Saturday. I’m just hopeful that the new ETA, which ends on 1/3, is accurate. I, like many, have had the carpet pulled out from under us with shifting ETAs, so I’m still understandably leery. As a fellow 10/11 build week gang member I’m hoping you hold out for the Mach E, but I understand your frustration. The Santa Fe is a $45K, top trim, vehicle depending on added junk. It's a weird plug-in too because while it gets a hp boost from the PHEV, it doesn't gain anything in performance. Definitely not a mid 50's vehicle but not a bad vehicle.Holy crap. Hang in there. I was a 10/11 build week (actual complete 10/27 and delivered to dealer on last day of delivery window in central california -- 12/6) and stay with the MME. You waited 8 mos. What's another month or less compared to a Kia/Hyundai... um a Mustang Mach-E just looks better and mine is just what I needed from a former '13 mustang owner.. My CA RT 1 was worth the wait. (2 fobs). Thanks for the encouragement! I’m definitely leaning toward the MME, as my ETA was moved up a week. My Mach E has been great, had it a month almost 2000 miles, no issues. I really like it, awesome to drive and travel in. My favorite car to drive of all time, and I have had some sweet rides. I would wait for Ford. Not sure what brand you are mentioning, but assume it is German. Possibly BMW, I have had several, and boy do they like the dealership service department. Germans are great mechanical engineers but they are not brilliant at software, especially User Interface. Just my experience. The plot thickens: Ford just moved my ETA from 1/3-1/9 to 12/28-1/3…so you’re telling me there’s a chance?!
Thanks…it’s actually a Hyundai, but at this point looking like I’ll be waiting for my Mach-E. While it’s a nice car with great features, the dealer never called, so I’m guessing they won’t sell without ADM. Since my reason for waiting for the MME was to avoid ADM and get the exact colors/features I wanted, I’m going to wait, especially since Ford shortened my ETA. I just hope it’s based in reality! My Mach E has been great, had it a month almost 2000 miles, no issues. I really like it, awesome to drive and travel in. I agree that it's not well-known outside EV enthusiasts, but it seems that dealers are ADMing everything nowadays due to supply chain and chip shortages. The Ionic 5 does look like a pretty good alternative. I'm betting that it won't be too difficult to get one directly from a dealer in the first couple months before the news/reviews on it spread more widely. It's well-known in the EV community, but not so much among the general car-buying public.
I like the styling, and the charging speed is bonkers. Even with the reduced range, it would probably road trip really well because your charging stops would be very brief, assuming you can find open and functional 350 kW charging units.
The Ionic 5 is great because it will get more people into EVs (given the price point), and it will hopefully force the other OEMs to enhance their charging speeds.
I hope they don't do that with you; if necessary, just call around to multiple dealers and, if necessary, travel to that dealership and drive the car home. Makes for a fun road trip and it sends the business to the dealerships who don't pull that crap. I know a lot of MME buyers who have done that.I agree that it's not well-known outside EV enthusiasts, but it seems that dealers are ADMing everything nowadays due to supply chain and chip shortages.
I wouldn't bet on that. It's only being sold in ZEV states initially, so supply will be very constrained. The Ionic 5 does look like a pretty good alternative. yeah but it's a completely new platform for ford, and it remains to be seen if hyundai can get the ioniq program going with less issues. That said I really like the looks of the ioniqThe Mach-E remains my first choice, but I’m not a fan of Ford’s inability to deliver it consistently!
