Damn so there's no general option for just turning off unlock on approach?
It doesn’t really unlock until you hit the button to open the door, but if your PaaK or fob are close enough to the car, it will unlock when somebody hits the button.

But isn’t that how all modern cars with proximity key fobs work? If the fob is close enough to the car, anyone can unlock it, right?

Yes exactly so this isn’t a PaaK issue. If your fob is too close to the car the doors will open as well.

Ah to be honest, I'm still driving a car from the early 00s so the MME is going to be a big jump in tech for me. I'm very excited but I'm still not an expert on a lot of this stuff yet.

See my worry is that with the proximity stuff is that someone going through a neighborhood just trying door handles will eventually hit mine, my phone in my bedroom will be close enough to the car to trigger the unlock and boom. Open door.

I believe there may be a way to disable passive entry but I’m not 100% sure of that.

Yea I've been reading through the manual and so far no luck in finding something that seems will do this. But I also tend to be a better hands on learner so I think once I have the car in front of me it'll be easier to find if this is an option or not.

Looks like it can be disabled so you should be good.

That shouldn't work unless your phone is within 3 feet of the car door.

Ah, that's good to know. I assumed if it was within Bluetooth distance it would open.

I saw this and thought that was it too, but on my second reading I took it to mean activating/deactivating PaaK. The whole system reset thing sounds to me like clearing out a saved phone key. But maybe I'm wrong?

Although what is the difference between "Driver/Passenger Entry Zone" and "Remote Keyless Entry Range"? My bedroom is definitely further than 3ft. And also definitely more than 10ft away too (although maybe if I was right at my window and my car was pulled up close, I could maybe be within 10 feet?). But I'm curious what those differences are they sound similar.

Passive entry means you don’t have to touch your fob or PaaK, just have it on you. Remote keyless entry requires you to press the unlock button on the fob or PaaK.

How far does the Phone as a key or provided key work? I was in church today, and when I came out, someone had been in my car and gone through my glove box and center console and scatter everything through out the car. I use the walk away lock feature and the horn beeped when I left the car.
On the FordPass Vehicle tab there is Security & Safety selection containing Securealert. If you turn this on you’ll get a notification if the doors or tailgate is opened.

This has nothing to do with PaaK. I’m not sure why it does a “system reset” as I haven’t done the procedure and want to leave my passive entry turned on. :)

Wait so are they saying that if I'm further than 10 feet from my car I can't lock or unlock it? That doesn't seem right. How do you do the old "oh crap where did I park again let me hit lock so my horn honks" trick then lol?

Also sorry OP I feel like I've kind of hijacked your thread here.
