That comment leads me to believe that you haven't watched many reviews of the Ioniq 5 or EV6.
I’m more of a reader than a watcher, however, this sentiment is par for the course for Kia and Hyundai, and not just for their EVs.

Even Kyle more or less says it in his final thoughts (around 25:50, “Basically it comes down to…”) - get the Mustang for the looks, get the other one because it’s an overall great vehicle with great pricing.

Does the Ioniq5 take 8 to 10 months delivery like the Mach E? Does any new car take this amount of time for delivery?
Doesn't seem to be taking that long for the Ioniq, but it will all depend on demand. It definitely doesn't seem to be in as high demand as the Mach E.

Hopefully they communicate to their customers better than Ford.
No. They don't lol. I had a reservation (which it turns out are worthless), and couldn't get any info from them before I cancelled when I found a GT on the lot. And the dealers are just as bad with markups, if not worse, since there don't seem to be any "No ADM" Hyundai dealers in NorCal. At least if you are willing to wait for a Mach E there are 3 dealers in the Bay to order from with no markups.

My sister is looking to get an Ioniq 5, so we test drove an SEL this weekend and it was definitely nice. The interior is crazy roomy, and plenty of cargo space. I like the dual screens and especially the instrument screen I prefer over the one in the Mach E. The infotainment screen I prefer the Mach E, but it wasn't bad.

As for the ride it was definitely better than my wife's GT and probably the Route 1 we traded in for it. Really smooth. But man it just felt slooooowww. Definitely less pep than the Route 1 and it's a joke to even compare to the GT. Much like my Polestar 2, you really have to mash the accelerator to feel any kind of G's. The seats were comfortable - better than the Route 1, but I prefer the GT over them.

All in all I really liked it. Better than the Polestar, but between looks and power and overall vibe I prefer the Mach E, especially the GT.

Debating maybe trading in my Polestar for the I5 instead of waiting forever for my AWD Route 1 order... But only if I find one without markup, so unlikely lol

I can never keep it straight if this one is the Kia or the Hyundai, the Ioniq 5 and EV6 are both basically appliances while the Mach-E is a vehicle you get because you are into cars and it’s more than about getting from Point A to Point B.

It’s like comparing a name brand shirt to a no-brand shirt from Costco on value and functionality. Totally misses the point. If you want the name brand, things like value and durability aren’t really a priority. If you don’t care about the aesthetics much and don’t care about having the brand name, the designer label is a waste of money.

I suppose they don’t have that many EVs to compare to yet, but a much more natural comparison for the EV6 and Ioniq 5 would be the upcoming Ford Escape EV and Chevy Equinox EV, not the Mach-E.
I guess we are in the rare camp. Call me shallow and superficial. That’s why we have Mach e and Taycan CT on order instead of ioniq 5 and MB EQS.

I knew he would not recommend the Mach E, but he did come close to it.

If you cannot get this one, get that one...... He hates the Mach E. He always finds faults with it.... whether handling, ride and charging, seats (now), (Last one was Cost), every review he finds something wrong with it, but he must be getting some pressure to sort of recommend it. I found this review quite funny.

He said the apps were similar.

I have the Hyundai App for my Ioniq. Its very basic. Nothing like Fordpass, as quirky and challenging as Fordpass is.....

No Secure Alert, Journeys or trip data, EV driving data, tire pressure warnings, no Windows up/Down, no charging locations, no trip planning, you cannot set charging to stop at a certain battery % (may be a limitation of my car), you can only have two departures and charge schedules, there are no logs (like charge logs), no link to Owners manual etc

No wireless carplay, no bluecruise, no PAAK on the Ioniq 5 either.

I do have an alert or geofence in my Hyundai system that alerts me when my wife is within 1/4 miles of me. It does tell me if my doors are locked, which I miss from Fordpass and is a miss in my mind.
Have you actually planned a trip using Ford's software? It tries to route me to slow chargers and has three times, en route on these trips, told me that I didn't have enough charge to make it to the nearest fast charger and was of course wrong every time. The real puzzler was when I was 20 miles from an EA charger and had 55 miles of range.

Interesting video from @OutofSpecKyle.

@Mach-E VLOG , is that your car? Edit: Nevermind, I just noticed Kyle said it was :)

I'm sorry, but the Ionic is devoid of any curb appeal. To me, it's only allure is that it is a BEV. A few years from now, when BEVs are commonplace, the Ionic's value will drop precipitously because it is butt ugly.

In Canada the Ioniq 5 Preferred Long Range RWD /168kW + 77.4kWh is $51999 before delivery&destination compared to Mustang Mach-E Select RWD $51495 before delivery&destination.

Select RWD. 0-60 mph time 5.8 sec vs Ioniq 5. 0-60mph time 7.4 sec

feature advantage Ioniq 5 over Mach-E Select
- Heat Pump & Battery Heating System
- Heated front seats
- Heated steering wheel
- 19" alloy wheels

feature advantage Mach-E Select over Ioniq 5
- better colour options ( Grabber Blue Metallic, Rapid Red Metallic, Cyber Orange )
- ActiveX seating material nicer than cloth
- SecureCode Keyless Entry keypad
- Phone as a key
- Frunk
- Wireless Charging pad
- Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto
- USB C , not just USB B
- Forward Sensing System

everything except Heat Pump can be added with Comfort/Technology package and 19" wheels optional

I feel the Mach-E is the better choice between these 2 choices ( at least with Canadian pricing )

I did order the Mach-E Select

No they are on lots now. Often dozens available per dealer too.

I’ve test driven the SE AWD, SEL RWD, and Limited AWD and I would not buy anything but the Limited. The lower trims do not have a 360 camera, no premium audio, no pano roof, and the SE has cloth seats. Funny enough the cloth seats were very comfortable to me but I found the Limited’s ventilated seats a bit painful after a few minutes.

At $56K, the Limited is to close to the Premium AWD ER. However dealer markups are close to $5K sometimes $10K. The Limited trim is very rare and only SEs and SELs exist on dealer lots. I had put deposit on a Limited a few weeks back and that’s how you can secure one.

I was offered the Limited at a reasonable markup but I turned it down (long story) and shifted my deposit for another 1-2 months out. I may skip the Ioniq 5 altogether if I can find a GTPE at a reasonable markup. I figure that’s what I want and not a “luxury sedan” which is what the Hyundai feels like to me.

If you need an EV now and can live with an SE and SEL with fewer features than a Mach-E Premium… it is good choice.
While waiting for an MME, I checked out the Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited $56K at a couple Orange County, CA dealers. One dealer proudly stated they did not add a dealer markup, but they had no Ioniq 5 on the lot and didn't know when they'd see one. Another nearby Hyundai dealer advertised online about 19-Ioniq 5 "in transit" arriving in a week or so, and 3 of the exact model and color I was investigating. They had a few of other models on the lot. However, I was told they all 3 I asked about had deposits on them (meaning I couldn't buy them) and, yes, their dealer markup was $5K on every Ioniq 5. They said I could not order from Hyundai, but I could apparently put a $500 deposit on the vehicle I wanted to consider with the dealer and wait. My focus swung back to the MME. Waiting is waiting. ;)

Yep, as you heard, that was my Mach-E. Kyle texted on Saturday night and asked if I was free for comparison video on Sunday. I jumped at the chance to check out the Ioniq 5.

I did get to take it for a short spin and look it over. I spend a lot of the day talking to the owner. I don't like the looks of it at all, but I know a lot of people love it. Driving it... it feels just as quick as the Mach-E, handles well (I don't have as much of an issue with the Mach-E's handling as Kyle does), and the balance of buttons & screens is pretty good. The build quality seemed excellent.

I know the charging is a big deal for a lot of people, but it wouldn't be a deciding factor for me. For starters, I charge mostly at home. On a road trip, the extra charging speed may save a few minutes per stop... if you find an available 350 kW charger.

In the end, I'd choose my Mach-E again, but the Ioniq 5 is another good choice. I'd probably pick the EV6 over the Ioniq 5 and the Ioniq 5 over the ID.4.

Anyhow, I'm not buying an Ioniq 5 any time soon. I may own one in the future but I'm on the lookout for a GTPE for now :)

That same day, I got 2.8 miles per kWh in the early morning with the temps between 10 and 20 degrees heading up from Denver to Ft. Collins to film the first video. At about 11am, I got 3.1 miles per kWh with temps between 38 and 45 going back to Denver. Not exactly comparable because it wasn't the same stretch of road.

Kyle just posted his 70-mph range test in an awd SEL Ioniq 5. 227 miles total in mid 50-degree weather.
Hyundai IONIQ 5 70-MPH Highway Range Test (19" AWD 77kWh) - YouTube
Considering the 4X gets something like 50 miles additional range (285mi per Tom Moloughney 70mph range test), there's a tradeoff equation between charging speed and distance traveled.

My guess is that over a distance of 300-350 miles, there's very little difference between the two cars.
