I'm first on the list for my buddy's Kia dealership for the EV6 GT when ordering opens up.

any idea how the ride comfort compares between the EV6 and the MME AWD ER?
I have not driven one, someone noted the Mach E had a better ride , but again that’s personal preference. The Hyundai is softer for sure.

Is the EV6/Ioniq 5 going to get OTA updates?
Yes they do, but also provide updates via USB. I'm assuming the USB updates are for the multimedia systems.

At least from the videos I've seen in the UK the OTA updates are listed as "optional subscription service"

It’s a decent face.

Now show us its Butt!
It’s growing on me. It actually looks pretty good in this color. I still have my GTPE reservation, but this two-month chip hold is getting ridiculous while they continue to finish 6 weeks of cars built after mine. I totally lost confidence in Ford’s ability to deliver the car any time before August or September, and I don’t want to deal with everything that goes along with that, most notably the 12 volt battery issues.

Buy whichever you like. While production delays are frustrating, it’s happening to every manufacturer.

I also wouldn’t sweat the 12v thing. Seems like your chances are literally 1 in 1000 of it happening.

I understand production delays. It’s Ford’s strategy for how they are distributing the chips when they come in that I find maddening. Most of January builds ended up in some sort of chip hold, until the week of January 31. From that point until the current week, cars have been sailing through with little to no problems while the January builds sit in a holding pattern. We have options, so I exercised one.

Not sure if understanding the why helps or not, but here is the decision they made:

To not stop the production lines. Even if parts (chips) were missing.

Keeping production going is the fastest way to get the most cars to the most people.

Unfortunately, because a specific VIN vehicle is yours, if you get unlucky and all the parts aren’t available when yours goes down the assembly line, you have to wait.

It’s not the most “fair” system, but it is likely the fastest way to do it.

Oh, I understand why they did it. From a business point of view, it's a lot easier and cost effective to put the chips in the cars that are on the line, opened up, than to have to hunt through a parking lot, open it up and finish it. You only have to move one car the way they are doing it. It's just getting old wondering if it will be this week. Or this year. In the meantime, I am really enjoying the Kia. When I'm honest about the kind of driving I actually do now, this is a great choice. The people that are getting their MMEs are no doubt thrilled, and had I been one of them, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
