Update, just got the car back. Was already at dealer the day this came out. They worked with the Ford Tech Hotline to address "not getting OTA update and other software," which is why I took it there.

Apparently on Friday they had "completed all the updates" and were waiting on the tech line to get back to them about force pushing an OTA to my car to see if it would work. This was the claim.

I don't have my invoice/work write up, and didn't get specifics on what was done from the advisor either. She will close it out on Tuesday/Wednesday, waiting to see if I have any issues over the next few days.

I can tell they must have plugged in to the USB, because my own cable was removed and some items I had in that area had been cleared away. I also see some GUI changes. The vertical bar with "OK" on popups in the IPIC. A blue "X' on the car icon in top left when I go to change the drive modes or other settings. However, I still do not see my current Ford Power-Up version on the system update screen. Pics attached.

Looks like you got it. But do you have Notes?

I have had the second appointment cancelled. The service centre called me to say that they have done the TSB-22-2117 when it was last in. I know that from FDRS that this fix was not applied.
They said that even if the fix is applied then the software version will not show the latest number. I told them that mine doesn't have a number and has --. She was adamant that she has spoken to the technical team and that there is no point to come in to apply it again.
So I am not permanently stuck in 1.7.1 purgatory. Not sure if there is anything I can do now. I will wait for some others to get the fix and see what they have on their screens. Anyway, I am not happy with the Ford experience. I would not tell anyone to buy a mustang Mach E, I would tell them the software is garbage stay well away!

Can you go to a different dealer?

If you know anyone with FDRS I would suggest that. I want to give a big thank you to
benk016
He worked for about 9 hours on Sunday and completed all the updates that were outstanding on my car.
The 1.7.1 stuck update took him longer to prepare the car then doing it. I'm guessing 10 minutes on that update. Once that was done he dived into all my updates that could be down. Again big thanks to him and I would explore the forums to find a FDRS person to do it in your area. If you only do it and let the rest of the updates come over OTA you will not be without your car very long I do not believe.
I believe he said he was going to post about the update.
Thanks again Ben.

I don't blame you for feeling angry and frustrated. It's really maddening when we know more about these TSB's than the dealers do. I would offer the same advice as far as finding another dealer if possible. My car goes in tomorrow for the "fix" and I certainly hope they don't try to pull that one on me (I don't think they will). I have all the adapters, etc., ready for them so they can't use the excuse of not having them available. I'd also call Ford and explain your situation to see if they can help resolve your issue. And I don't personally know anybody that lives close by that has FDRS because if I did, I would give that a try too. The software is way too expensive for me and I don't have a Windows laptop plus I'm too chicken to ever attempt something like that knowing full well I could brick the car (I have an iPad and Mac desktop with a Parallels virtual machine but it is not configured for bootcamp booting into Windows directly).

Do we know that the - - is supposed to clear after the fix is done? I know if updates are done with FDRS instead of OTA the version numbers don’t update

I don't have the notes app. Then I am unsure how to actually kick start the next update to get the next version. Does anyone know?

After the "fix" on mine Ben had to update my Sync and that is when Notes showed up. It then became sketch after the 2nd Sync update.

I preformed this fix on @Shaggyrn car yesterday. It was very straight forward.

Pull the plastic molding, disconnect the USB hub, Start the "Module Repair" in FDRS, it does a few quick operations, then installs the windows drivers for the Sync system. Then you plug in the USB cable to the APIM from the laptop, and it does a few more quick things, then you switch to the ethernet connection. At this point, it went through a series of steps, Resetting the APIM, and then the TCU. Then It went through a rewrite of the data base on the APIM and then the TCU. And then it was done. Takes about 10 minutes total.

As soon as it was done, checking the about sync page, and the version number was back, and the automatic updates could be turned on and off again.

After that APIM and TCU updates applied successfully.

After that I went through all the updates I could, and ended up taking almost 10 hours to get through all of them. The longest being the IPMA of course.

After applying a few of the updates, several more popped up. Seems like some of the updates trigger others to show up on the list. After the 1.7.1 fix an APIM version showed up. Updated that. Then did a few other modules, then another APIM version came up.

From my experience doing the fix over the weekend on a car, As soon as the "Module Repair" process was done, the sync version showed back up immediately.

Ben, I think Ford should pick you as a trainer for their service departments. I am sure they are providing training but it’s not working.

Definitely hope people here can help those like Sasha on convincing dealers they didn’t do it right

This is actually pretty accurate. It seems like most dealers just don't want to touch this car.
