I love when the fast and the furious occasionally breaks out here on the normally electrotechnical forum. I’m gonna go have a shot of 109 octane fuel

burp

Jes sayin. Well done torque maniacs
Happy to oblige ?.

Dragy showed up today. About 5 hours after I sent the car to the shop for the week.
*sigh*

Would have been the perfect morning to do a comparison too. 26° but the roads were dry.

It’s more about the vagaries of my work schedule. It could be done Wednesday, but I’ll be at work. I hope it’s done on Thursday as I’m off work that day and go get it. If not then next Monday will be my first chance.

Also, it’s not a mechanic shop.

Got my car back. Got my Dragy. And Thursday morning before work it’s supposed to be below freezing. I’m going to get up early and go do a couple runs in each car.

Here it is.
old farm road just down from my house that is completely deserted at 5AM.
It’s not quite flat so I did one run headed west. Stopped and did another run back East. Looking at the graphs I may have Mia-estimated where the 1/2 mile mark was and let off early when coming back East.
32°F outside and both cars charged to 90% with no preconditioning. The GT-PE was only showing 2 grey bars (impressive for the temp)

I took the wife’s 4X first then my GT-PE so I could just head to work after the 4th run.

Those don’t line up the best to tell the story so here’s the stored numbers. On this list, dragy reverses the numbers. Number 1 is the first run and number one is the last.
So the best comparisons is #4 vs #2 (westbound in the 4X vs GT-PE) and #3 vs #1 (eastbound in the 4x vs GT-PE)

Ford Mustang Mach-E New best 0-60 time in MME 4X (Dragy run) 95908BAB-5A52-48B5-83AF-1AB154843AFC

As far as the 0-60 times, the GT-PE, even with 2 grey bars and some traction loss (still some winter sand on the roads) was much quicker. About 1.25 seconds quicker.

Ford Mustang Mach-E New best 0-60 time in MME 4X (Dragy run) CE70C811-52B5-4450-AF5A-F8B5A88D344B

And in the 1/4 mile the GT was about 1 second quicker each way. Note that between 4&2 the GT-PE is 0.83 seconds faster.

Ford Mustang Mach-E New best 0-60 time in MME 4X (Dragy run) B8711EF1-4FA4-48E7-A4D9-158245C6574C

For the 1/2 mile I’d say runs 1 and 3 here are garbage but comparing 4 and 2 you can see that the GT-PE (#2) is now only 0.64 faster than the 4X(#4). So at the 1/2 mile mark, the 4X is making up ground on the GT-PE. And this is with only 2 grey bars.
I believe this proves that with my usual 11 grey bars at 10° F, the 4X would make my GT-PE look like a chump all day long. But we’ll have to wait a few months to prove that. While my overnight low may be 33° for the next few nights, I think the 10° weather is gone for the year. Spring has come early.

Awesome, looks like both are very quick cars and most of all, a lot of fun.

Undoubtedly a lot of fun. That’s what bit me enough to buy two, errrr, three I guess. But someone said there was “no situation in which the 4X would beat the GT-PE” and I felt like the gauntlet had been thrown.
I do love my GT-PE for it’s magna ride, acceleration when warm (and yes 32° is considered warm for me after the last 5 months of winter), and for the seats. So it was worth the low upgrade cost for me. But it shouldn’t be called a performance vehicle when it can be beat by a 4x in the cold.

Me, I said that! (And so far it’s still true).

I’m still under the assumption that cold weather affects the 4X as well (even though there’s no power meter to show it).

But if somehow it doesn’t……. Add it to the list of things about performance they need to fix on the GT!

I hope to prove you correct next winter, but I strongly doubt I’ll be able to do so.

Thanks again for taking the time! As I’ve stated in the past, the 4X isn’t catching the GTs from a dig unless there are a ton of gray bars showing - even then it’s not guaranteed. However, the scenario where we’re gonna laugh is when you do rolling hits from 20-70, 30-80, 30-100 etc. I believe a GT with gray bars will have a surprise in those cases, especially 2 or 3 consecutive runs. Even a GT with no gray bars will end up wheezing at the end of the 30-100mph roll. 4X doesn’t care in my experience, at least not after 2-3 runs, maybe 4-5 runs will pull it back but I haven’t had that chance as yet.

In the end, we’ve proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the GTs are awesome machines with an Achilles heal that really needs surgery. Or just a 10 second full power OTA ??‍♂ @Ford Motor Company ???

BTW, lmfao at those GTPE 1/4 mile trap speeds all over again ?????‍♂

Don’t disagree about the fix being needed.

Still no proof that a 4X would win a rolling race in any situation (side by side, same state of charge).

But you keep clinging to that hope that if you race a dozen times in -40 degree weather that one day you’ll win! ?

Dozen? -40F? I’m talking 2-3 runs in whatever weather. Maybe even 1 30-100mph pull. We know the GT will gap a 4X initially, but, for how long?

If a 4X is 2 secs faster to 110mph (proven by CD test) and it gains about 20 mph from the 1/8th to 1/4 mile vs. the GTs gaining only 12-13mph (proven by multiple user Dragy runs), why is it far fetched that it can eke out a 30-100mph win? So far my best in our 4X is a 10.1-10.2 30-100mph Dragy run. Put up or shut up time. ??

BTW, I decided to keep the SS instead of selling for a GT350, but I’m doing the rest of the LMS 560hp package - heads, cam etc. only $3K to go from 115mph traps to 120-121s. I fear no MME ?

Tomorrow morning before work I’ll go back to the deserted road and get some 30-100 times for you. Do you have the temp and SOC for your best time you mention above? If you do maybe I can just run the GT-PE and not have to do the 4X also.
