This. While I personally admit I'd have called him an idiot if he did that to me also... The proper response to this is that you were doing 70 in a 55, in the left lane... It was your responsibility to move over to clear the passing lane... (Yea right, now that we acknowledged the textbook response we can continue our normal response.)
Could not safely move over at that point because there was a car in the center lane. After I passed it I would have moved over but of course he had immediately pulled out and gone around me.

Some people forget the passing lane is used for passing slower traffic on the right. It's a misnomer to call it the "fast lane". People think that because THEY want to do 85, they should park in the left lane and tailgate everyone.

Exactly. If I'm going a good bit over the speed limit, just because that's "not fast enough for you" doesn't mean you get to ride my tail. Fuck off and pass me another way as you drive completely irresponsibly on public roads, Speed Racer.

If only we had the lane discipline of Europe and the passing rules. The left lane blocker would be subject to impeding flow and the right lane passer would be subject to improper passing. This craziness we have here leads to many problems.

Not all states designate the far left lane as a passing-only lane. In those states, slower traffic is supposed to stay to the right, but you are free to park in left lane if you want, and are going faster than the other lanes.

There’s a great use of the radar and front camera. The MME could put “HEY, YOU’RE DRIVING LIKE AN A-HOLE” on the IPC when the speed is >X and the distance to the next car is <Y.

On US 50 this AM in Annapolis. Going 70 in 55 mph zone when I got a car stuck to my back bumper flashing high beams at me. So close that I could not tell what it was. Tapping brakes had no effect . When I was about to pull over the middle lane they passed me on the right and gave me the finger as they sped off. I could then see that it was a MME.
He probably flicked you off for brake checking him, not for driving too slow.

Is this one of those situations that I have to explain to my kids that “just because he hit you first, doesn’t make it to hit him back?”

Don’t tailgate.
Don’t brake check.

Now everyone go to their rooms and think about what they did.

Come to Toronto and drive the 407 toll road - people think that because they paid to use it it becomes a track day. 140kph is slow. They call the left lane The Hammer Lane.

Can't stand being high-beamed, and admittedly I'm sometimes wrong, but give me a sec, I'll get over. This behaviour makes me think of a Top Gun scene - "Too close for missiles...switching to guns" :)

Interesting that their car would let them get that close at those speeds. I don't have my Mach yet but I know our F-150 has collision assist and it goes crazy and slows down if we get even remotely close to the vehicle in front of us.

I drive that road every day (not in the MachE, that's my wife's car). Not condoning riding someone's bumper, but 70mph is too slow for the left lane on Rt50 and probably the minimum for the middle lane.

How can it be done differently if the right lane is not empty? Switch lanes every 10 seconds? It doesn't make much sense, and really more dangerous and erratic.

That's so crazy; I was on 50 earlier today in my MME and there was this bozo in the left lane going so slow! Even after flashing my lights at him he didn't get the message. Eventually I had to get in the right lane and go around him. Always yield to a car going faster in the left lane!

Flipped him off, but it probably didn't sink in. I mean, some people!

NOTE TO THE HUMOR IMPAIRED: THIS IS SATIRE.
