The days of free charging at EA are hopefully over.
o_O See post #30.

Are you an EA stockholder? If not, why would you care?

Why do i need to be a stockholder in VW to care about the long term financial viability of the largest public charging network that has only a ten year runway before it’s cut loose to stand on its own?

Maybe I’m missing something, but why do you have a $55k car that you get bent out of shape over paying $7 to charge up at home?

Bent out of shape? No, just annoyed that I left it plugged in.

You apparently don't understand that companies do promos to get people to use their products and services. That's what the free weekend is. If EA's Marketing Dept chooses to do the promotion, why should you give a rat's behind?

It creates buzz online, which they want. It gets people who never DC charge to go try it. o_O

Yeah, they don’t announce it but it still happens. I’ve asked them directly on Twitter before and they said No, but it still happened so

I don't see anything on the EA website announcing free charging for the weekend. They usually publicize it when they decide to offer free charging.

Tesla is offering free, off-peak Supercharging this weekend, but only at certain stations. Predictably, they are located on freeways and other travel corridors. My local Superchargers won't qualify since they're in town.

EA and Tesla sometimes offer free charging on their networks for one simple reason: To build and maintain brand loyalty. We all get a good feeling when we charge up for free. That's worth something to the companies that own the chargers.

Once they've established sufficient customer awareness, they'll phase out free charging. Marketing tools like this constantly shift and change.
They don’t always announce if

My thoughts about this strategy.
1. Drug dealers give away the first hit to get you hooked, it's marketing.
True. But they're well beyond first hit now. They've given away something like 7 or 8 free weekends already.

I think it's time they shift into normal mode rather that introducory mode. Stations are already getting busier. Plus gas is at record highs. Even full EA prices are cheap by comparison.

People are gonna drive their EVs and use the stations as they need them on holiday weekends or any other time.

Makes no sense for Electrify America to give away product to drivers with so many manufacturers willing to pick up the tab for charging. Lucid, Hyundai, Porsche, Polestar, BMW, VW, Mercedes Benz, and whatever other OEM out there will pay for their cars. Anybody else who feels entitled to something for nothing from EA should probably get used to the sensation of being disappointed.

We’re past the point of buzz. There’s more demand than supply. There’s a shortage of functioning chargers. It’s time we get real about how this is gonna work going forward.

Saturday now, and nothing on the EA Twitter feed. It's looking like the free weekends may be over.

I don’t expect it to be free, but as long as they keep offering it I will continue to take advantage and also get my Arby’s fix at the same time!! Lol
