Double ? and hopes that they've tested more extensively this time!
If all it is is a spec change in the new part that would be quite the oversight

Just got back from my dealer (Sat) to find out status and was told that they were just going to replace the BECM  Since I managed after 4 days to unbrick the car DTC P0AA2, and it still appears to be drivable, I assume they are going to do this instead of the HVBJB. The part was on nationwide backorder, but as of yesterday they located one in Colorado and it should be here by Wed.

Seems rather shortsighted to drop the battery and replace one part, only to have to come back later and do the other work, especially with Ford possibly going to announce something soon. @DevSecOps ?

Ugh. No idea if calling my case advisor at Ford will make any difference to this process, but I guess I will do that anyway Monday.

Hmmmm, well hopefully we might hear something more official from ford before they undertake your procedure later on next week.

I would think we're close since we know there's a new revised HVBJB part they released into their parts database on Friday, and, interestingly, our friendly Ford social media account all of a sudden posted tutorial steps about how "not to miss OTA updates!" on Friday as well....

I showed them an issue with the tailgate when I was there today https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/tailgate-noise.8120/. Since they have to take it to the bodyshop to address that it might delay them enough for Ford to make an announcement, be that TSB, recall, etc. Not the best strategy but it's something.

It is possible for the part to come in Monday then I'm hosed.

My car thursday finally gave me the Stop Safely now message. I was charging the car on L1 charging at 70 SOC when I got the message to my phone that there was a charge problem. Turn car on to see the stop safely now message. I connected an ODB2 reader to see P1A10 code and "Battery voltage too high" on BECM, Battery voltage was only at 360V or thereabouts. The odd thing to me was the Module not found error for the DCDC controller.

If that's the only code then it isn't the same issue

I'll just reiterate that not all SSN messages are attributed to the HVBJB. I've had two people DM me in the last day that both had SSN and neither had a HVBJB DTC. This forum tends to jump to conclusions for everything without any evidence of what it might be. Once you are able to pull the DTCs via an app or the dealership then you'll know what the cause is. For the HVBJB failure you'll see a code that the contactor is stuck open/closed.

Edit: @Gimme_my_MME how dare you beat me to it ?

There are forum members here that are amazing, and have made dealing with some of the 'first adopter" issues with this vehicle so much more pleasant. Thank you.

The interesting part about all of this is how was this not discovered as a potential issue prior to release of the car? This car was in development for what, 5-6 years before the public got their hands on it?

Developing cars, especially a new type of powertrain, is complex. But Ford didn't take that long for the MME.

All that being said, clearly something was missed during the validation stage with Ford or it's suppliers.

I'm sure they've used this as a teachable moment...

@scoopman "In 2017, as part of a comprehensive review ordered by then-new CEO Jim Hackett, the proposed electric car already under development wasn’t discarded but radically rethought—and given an about-face as a rear- or all-wheel-drive project.". Okay, I'd call that about 5 years.

Well we still don’t know the cause and the occurrence rate so it may actually be a very niche situation where it happens that wasn’t checked. Just like my situation with my A/C I told above, Carrier I guess didn’t account for “dirty power” coming into their inverter boards so they had to beef up the capacitors

We all like how the MME is not nearly as popular as Tesla (look at sales numbers). The downside is these major safety issues never get reported in the media. Can you imagine the front page news in WSJ, New York Times, The Verge, CNET, every EV site if the Model Y had this issue for over a year and was stranding people in dangerous situations. It would be reported on endlessly. But since this is the MME, nothing much reported. Even another post a few pages back commented how only this forum knows much about this issue. I think if the media picked up the story, it would have been resolved last year.

I don't think it is niche. 38 people on the forum with an issue this year and counting. Thats a ton of cars with an issue that makes them non drivable........but we'll see. Ford definitely knows the cause of the issue already and I believe they have a fix already but we'll see if my car gets it.

All of those fancy AC units with VFD suck. They fail so often even newer designs that last longer still fail in an unreasonably short amount of time.
